Bounced Cheques

Hi all!
Just thought id post this up incase anyone else gets done!
There are cheques bouncing all over the country!
Im in Donegal here, and recieved one from a man in Co. Longford.
After finding where he lived (only took a whole day), and asking to see him, his wife accused me of harassing her, and said he was in hospital, when I could clearly see him out the back!!
Where do I stand on this?!
Will I ever get my money off him?!?

Tough one - Its not a huge amount of money but clearly very annoying and may be a lot of money to you.

You could try re-presenting?

Did he give you a cheque guarantee card number?

Any chance of getting the goods back?

Failing that, payment in kind is always an option...

You can report him to the guards. Technically what he did is no different than stealing whatever goods/services you provided him.

I think that this might be a good enough reason to stop accepting cheques. There's a reason most garages/shops have stopped taking them. Have you looked into accepting Laser/Credit cards (or possibly bank transfers) as an alternative? They are the most expensive, time-consuming and fraudulent method of payment.
