Yeah - its our first - due early August.

You'll both have a ball, it's unbelievable. Enjoy!

I have my NS Grinta. Seriously considering leaping into bed with an Ascaso I2 though.

    I didn't know you had a Grinta.

Surely the I2 will only be a minor improvement over the Iberital (going by your tests) or do you know something I don't?

Right, given the (small) size of my kitchen, and the ensuing little bundle of joy (baby) on the way. I'm going to reluctantly sell on the Mazzer.

First off: congratulations. \o/ Get all your sleep in now.

    Secondly: *whip noise*

Got the Grinta with the Oscar.

I thought the I2 grinds looked the nicest of all in the test, and I've read a few glowing reports elsewhere also.
I haven't had a stepless worm-drive conical grinder, and as I'm gonna keep the Grinta (which is stepped) for filter, it makes sense to go for the I2.

Khannie, I'd be extremely interested in the results of your conversion kit.

We have a 3yo Mazzer Super Jolly Auto but as we now only sell beans and not cups of coffee anymore the doser is a pain when I have 2KG of coffee to grind.

Might put up a thread looking for a swop!

I just got the instructions for it by email. In involves drilling. Bah.

I've attached them for anyone who's interested. Looks straightforward enough (with the exception of the drilling).

Looks easy enough. The drilling is only minor - jsut have to make sure you have the right drill bit.

Ah, sure I've all the drill bits. What kind of geek do you take me for? :D I'm just not fond of drilling into such a beautiful piece of hardware (plus, it's on a curved surface which isn't ideal, but yeah, it should be grand).

    Thanks Khannie.
    Looks very doable.

You said you got the kit on ebay?

Use a small dot-punch, it'll help stop the bit from slipping and scoring the surface.

Yup. I got it from this guy who listed it on request and has been very good as a seller. Highly recommend him.

Good idea on the punch Mr. Magnolia.

Right, given the (small) size of my kitchen, and the ensuing little bundle of joy (baby) on the way. I'm going to reluctantly sell on the Mazzer.

I could probably make a profit on the whole affair by flogging it on ebay - but (a) I would prefer to sell it to a fellow boardsie, and (b) i'd prefer not to have to give ebay / paypal a cut.

So anyone who want a Mazzer Jolly grinder - letting it go for €150.

Pros - Very consistent super grinder. Built like a tank. Very fast grinding. Professional machine all round. Regarded as industry leader.
Cons - Big. Doser suited to professional environment more than home.

Hi Marquha - ok for €150 it is yours.

Just so you know, I emailed Mazzer about the grinder. I sent them pictures of it, to see if they could tell me the age. They said it was a Mazzer Jolly model from the 70s. So its 30+ years old. He also said that the fork, the bottom plate of the doser, and the hopper were more recent parts, obviously replacing older ones, and the burrs are also relatively new.

If you are happy with that then ok - we can agree.

I wont play the busy card.....I've been too lazy tbh. Probably wont get to it 'til the weekend. Friday at the earliest.

edit: I strongly considered it last night, but the pull of donkey kong was too great.

Bah, as we don't have online access to credit card statements I won't have my PayPal account up and running till the end of the month so I won't be abe to order my conversion kit till then.

I'll be keeping a keen eye on your progress Khannie:)
