    Hi all

I need to hire someone with basic sales and marketing skills for my company. I was thinking of going down the fresh minds, straight from college route.

We are only a small company and we don't fall under any of your typical classifications, hence the fresh minds!

Would anyone have any suggestions as to where to find these people - apart from the obvious newspapers, online job sites or putting notices in colleges/universities (to late this time of year!)

We are based in Oranmore, Galway.

    Cheers

Spend a day visiting a few shops/supermarkets in the area ....watch out the polite and pleasant staff (with customers) .... watch how they interact with management and their colleagues.

Make a note of the ones that impressed you and revisit a couple times to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

You'll find some absolute nuggets that just didn't have the sense to give school their best shot ... and would love a chnace to impress in an organisation such as yours, having got a cold dose of reality in the real world.

and then there's bebo ;) They're all there

    hi
I've been on a couple of sides of the fence here: as a marketing professional with over 15 years experience; having hired marketing grads/interns and also having been a lecturer in marketing for past 6 years, i would have to recommend paying to contract a marketing pro rather than grad. You'll end up spending far too much time and money teaching them what you already know. much better to get someone to do a fixed contract e.g. 6 hours pw, they will do a lot more than a grad in a week, they'll also have network of relevant contacts etc.

I may know someone who could fit the bill, think he's going to do a masters next year though.

He lives in Maree so only down the road.
