Anyone have any recommendations on where we should do our Open Water Course (or even places to avoid). A google search left me with a billion dive centres that I can't separate on anything other than price.

I know the feeling. I was looking for the same a month ago. I am going here (http://www.bluerealmdiving.com/english/) in October to do the PADI course - the site looks good and legit.... has anyone heard anything about it?

    I would recommend http://www.dahabtecdivers.com/
I dived with them last September. I met few people taking their OW course. Brand New Equipment. Personal touch. If you Ask for Momo ( the boss) you will get a good deal.

    Happy Diving:)

If you have booked holiday already, it may be an idea to contact your travel company and do it through them. That way you will know who will be picking you up etc and you have the fallback of the holiday rep if you're not happy.

You might also want to consider doing the referal course in Ireland before you go, it will give you a coouple of extra days "Proper" diving.

I am not sure if you have been yet - but just back from Dahab/ Sharm yesterday. Dahab (about an hour from Sharm) was lovely and a lot less commercial - yes there are a lot of schools but it is still more relaxed.

We dove with Blue Realm (found them on Google) but really liked them. It is a family run centre and everyone was lovely. They were very safety conscious and didn't mind me taking a few days off due to an ear problem (they just extended the course - no extra payment) and let me do it at my own pace.

I preferred it to Sharm (that is just my opinion - we took a boat dive there). It is was a bit cooler (due to wind) but that was nice because you didn't get as hot. The course and accomodation was 350 for the week.

I will be going back to them next year
