ACA to ACCA

    Hi,

    Just wondering does anyone know about changing from ACA to ACCA, im doing Prof 3 at the minute but dont like my firm very much and dreading going back after exams.

    I like the flexibility of ACCA and would like to change , does any know if i can use my ACA (1 year work experience and prof 2/3) to get exemptions from ACCA.

    This might be better suited to the accountancy forum tbh as it's rather specialised to that area.

    Anyway, moving on to your problem at hand. You can get exemptions from the exams passed from Prof2 and Prof3 in ACA to ACCA. Check this link.

    Before making a decision, you need to figure out what you dislike. Is it the firm or is it the work? If it's the firm, you can transfer your training contract but it could be made difficult for you if your firm are a pack of cùnts.

    If it's the work itself but you still have an interest in accountancy then I'd move into industry.

    I worked in 3 practices. The last place I worked (left may 2007 after a few months) was probably the most enjoyable in terms of people (including Mart Max ;) :pac:) and atmosphere but the work was just not for me. I just hated it. I'm back in industry and while I'm busy all the time it's just a completely different way of working.

    Think about why you want to move and then decide. Don't jump into it.

    As an ACCA I'd say... stay where you are. By all means check out what exemptions you'd get, but you should stay within the body you've started with.

    As Kinetic^ said, you'd be better off changing firm/industry.

    acca flexibility you refer to is in the 'training' period. surely with only a year or a year and half left once you get the prof 3s you can stick it out, even if you cannot try to arrange to move practices (not the most straightforward but can be done), why move to acca, you are hardly going to move jobs within a year if you move?

    also people doing aca dont realise how good they have it, good study leave, exams paid for etc etc, most people i know doing acca 1) get very little if any study leave 2) pay for the exams and 3) the exams are a different type, rely a lot more on learning material off ( you cannot even bring the standards into the exam :eek:)
