Magic the Gathering, a card game that many poker players played when younger. Guys like David Williams, Noah Boeken, Justin Bonomo etc. (check out this 2+2 thread for a list: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthread.php?t=197179&highlight=magic+the+gathering )Basically loads and loads of players from the game have made an awful lot from poker and I have several Irish friends from that game who play poker fulltime. It was a great way to prepare for poker, we were flying around the world playing a complicated strategy card game for 8 hours a day in tournaments for money before we ever picked up a deck of playing cards.

Dagunman is yes, kind of, also wrote a decent thesis on the prospect of taxing online gambling in Ireland. Here's his blog:

    cheers

on the 3k FT its heads up........

    WOW
Well these guys have finally snapped...

After playing heads up for over six hours John Phan has finally gotten Johnny Neckar to agree to go all in, in the dark. Phan agreed to call. With both players all in without looking at their cards they held:

    Phan:
    Neckar:

The board ran out and Neckar spiked a pair to double up to around 2.4 million to take the chip lead!

Welcome to the World Series of Poker!

In fairness to the man he is still a class act as a poker player. You have seen a lot of the younger generation taking over but he is still one of the very best.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Ste05

Are we able to watch it over here? when I tried the ESPN website it said it wasn't available in my country.

    Also, GL dagunman!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,404 ✭✭✭Goodluck2me

The guy is obviously on the biggest, longest wind up in the history of everything.

    Park it!

Like the guy who lived his whole life as an ironic joke, marrying a standard wife, 2.4 children and wears grey suits to a plain office job, just to be ironic.

Yeah bwin are huge..think the sponsor AC Milan? Their up to the second clock for almost all major soccer matches is great for in-running trading.

i doubt the money means too much but he doesnt want to lose the bets he has on the bracelets obviously so i'd say he is somewhat worried at this stage obviously.. the money he might lose on the bracelets prob wont matter but losing the actual bets would matter

they start with 100k in chips and the games are limit so it's to be expected not to have many eliminated
