Well i have an mr2 and am a member of a good few forums on the English sites, i am actually regional rep for Ireland on www.mr2oc.co.uk and am heading to a couple of there events and Japanese car events this summer but i want to get to Japanese meets or more importantly events in Ireland and stuff like that.

are you a member of dtdirl.com?? very good side with a proper idea of what owning a performance is all about and involved in alot of events, there are others that are jap orientated but i dont like them as they are alot less mature and involved in disorganised "cruises" and the likes

www.dtdirl.com does not organise cruises or races. Meets and trackdays, yes but nothing illlegal. Most members are older and have a lot of experience on other sites and the irish modified car scene. in my opinion it is a brilliant site and would reccomend it to anyone interested in the modifed car scene in ireland.

www.ep91.com is also a good tech resource for toyota starlets/glanza's

there is offically no good ones, just ignorant wannabe tuners.... adding a backbox and wolfrace alloys are not performance parts, ive looked into setting one up myself but the general owners of " modified " cars are not the kinda people id wanna be around... but dont get me wrong theres many people out there with Good cars but it just annoys the f*** out of me when you see kids thinking there the business reving high all the way through first gear and missing the shift and lagging in second

    mini rant over

my advice: keep an eye out of good cars , have a chat wit the guy, orginise things ( meets and such ) with him and do it all that way, thus keeping trouble makers and noob's away.

Hi mate, i'm on the same boat, i've thought a good bit about setting up a jap club but its hard to get the interest in it. I'm signed up on cruisearound and midnightclub but both are very poor when you need preoper advice and i wouldn't dare attend a meet.

Octane.ie is pretty good, lots of heldpul guys but way too much into there euro cars, alfas etc....

Setting up a forum is pretty easy so if you feel the urge anytime just =give me a shout and we'll see what we can muster:D

http://www.dtdirl.com as gaz_d said is the best site out there, people like S.I.R have described are not welcome especially at meets, modified to people on dtdirl means more engine, power modificationsthan it does tacky halfords add ons and stupid bodykits, highly reccomend the site, the word cruise should'nt be associatted with any proper car owners club and it is not with dtdirl

I'm mostly on Octane, but that dtdirl loks like it might be interesting!

you pay the forum costs ill get the members... and no worrys , ive a few uys with Good cars ( veil side styled rx-7 , rs1800 mkII escort and a cossy seirrra to name drop some ) who are interested but sick of the usual garbage you get.... hey ill even moderate it... if the sun is shining and all the planets aline and obama gets american election i might even do the graphic design for the site....

    but yeah im truely intrested....

imo: recruit the good guys from anywhere, ban the ricers*

    * ricers - a term generally used by american/austrailians to describe a poorly modifed/driven japan car, These people belive that buddy club parts are good and that using stickers on there door makes there car sponsered.

the Generally knollege of the ricer: drifting was made by the japanese, Kie office = god, pontiac racing = mitsubishi , mutant speakers = chuck norris on steriods.

i could go on but tbh its 3:29 in the morning, ill go into deeper detail upon request though i fear ill be banned for telling the truth...

im a member of the www.isdc.ie the subaru drivers club, we organise meets once a month for members, usually in a hotel and we try to get parking and seating reseved. allthough its a subaru club anyone who becomes a member is welcome to these events which alternate between the northside and southside on a monthly basis. like all good clubs we dont tolerate messing or muppets either on the site or at the meets. the lads on the site are dead on and very helpfull across a broad spectrum of cars, not just suabrus. there is a feature of the club in the second edition of mij magazine that explains what the club is about better then i probably could.

well firstly id hate to burst anyones bubble but dtdirl is more than just a japanese car site, its actually irelands drag, track, and drift site no matter whar origin of your car, and the ricers you so nicely put it go with the whole modding/tuning scene.... i have a what i like to call nicly tuned skyline, yes its japanese and its driven does that make me a ricer?? i hate to think so.

anyway get onto dtdirl.com and see what its like for yourself, lately there seems to be alot of the kids getting onto it and ruining it for everyone else but there are alot of people on it that are in the know some more than others but there are people there for pretty much anything you have to know or ask. and the site also arranges meets, track days, trips abroad for international track days and such. you will never have a site for tuned cars without the muppets getting in somehow imho

how is S.I.R still on here and not been banned yet?

and does everyone not know he can't even drive yet? he's only a little 16 year old that has nothing better to do than sit on here starting arguements!

go and play in the traffic!

Honestly i was thinking of starting a forum with him, but what would people think with a forum been run by someone who can't drive, seemed like a sound lad from when i was talking to him but to have found out he can't drive and whatever is just a bit silly. Plus with my project i can't afford a site right now lol

i dont see a problem with a site being run by someone who cant drive if the site is good and full of info that is needed by its users, has the right staff in place and if its run properly too then it doesnt really matter who runs it...

I know what you mean and he seems sound and all but i do think it would be a bit of a joke someone running a car club who can't drive, surely you know where i'm coming from?

Would love to be in a decent car club. Have an mr2 aswell... but would be well put off by those "ricer" type car owners.
Im young enough myself (mid 20's) but I just like learning about cars and learning how to do decent engine work/mods... id be put off a club if all people wanted to do is show off all the time and talk ****e.... if someone does wana organise a decent club i wouldnt mind helping at all.

so you dont wana be around people who modify cars yet you wana set up a dedicated website??????

as said above, i dont know how you have not been banned yet, anyway thats a different story!

www.dtdirl.com is one of and probably the best irish forum at the moment.
its full of jap and euro cars from micks skyline to a BMW 320 etc etc

have a look and if you like, stick around, if you dont like then leave.
but dont let others make you mind up for you, just have a look yourself.
