I have 8 120 fans in my case, 5 are powered off the board and 3 off molex, they spin faster off molex for whatever reason so I'm gonna power them all off molex, I only have 1 free though and a few splitters, is 5 120 fans off one molex ok ? how many could 1 molex power ?

these are the fans I'm using http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=316880
they really are whisper quiet, have 8 of them going and there's just a pleasant humm , not objectionable at all, I haven't installed the controller I bought with them cause there's no need, I will at some stage though cause it looks cool. So if you are in the market for a few fans buy NorthQ Silent Tornado's , they are the business !

    A typical 120mm fan will consume ~3Watts.

A single molex can usually drive 2+ hardrives which are
    around 10watts each.

    20/3 = ~6 Fans.

But the fans have no "load" and no peak power other than
startup so I would say you are more than fine with 8.
