This facility is really great ,comparing the original post to the edited one. I can hear the laughter of people who look back over edited drunken posts.

Maybe this is why the facility is here ,pro-active drunken defense.:D

    Nice touch

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,963 ✭✭✭GhostInTheRuins

    Stop doing that lol

So after a few minutes if I edit a post it will show the differences between the two? Interesting

Check out my edit description ,you'll see the mistake I made.

    Very handy function.

that only shows for the individual user; possibly mods as well, havent checked.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,963 ✭✭✭GhostInTheRuins

    Oh I get it now

Only the poster can see the two.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,314 ✭✭✭Marcus.Aurelius

the last edited by 311 is underlined on my screen ,it doesn't look user specific.

Sorry if it is ,but I don't see the point of the facility for only mods.

can you see it on post # 11 above? :)

I meant mods on their specific forum(a)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,314 ✭✭✭Marcus.Aurelius

Only appears on my screen for me, your post doesn't have your user name in the edited line as a link

3 mins ago for my post and still has link for me

Double edged sword, it's nice in a way as it provides transparency but some posts are edited by mods to remove users real names or telephone numbers for example. Maybe mods should be deleting posts like that in future instead of editing them.

Oh wait, you mean only the poster that posted the post can see the edit (and the mods of the forum)? If so that's quite cool.

  • Subscribers Posts: 16,587 ✭✭✭✭copacetic

ah, sure, it sounds like a great thing altogether, if only it was true!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,332 ✭✭✭311

Thanks for clearing that up for me ,I suppose with the current feedback situations ,it would be handy for mods to compare versions of posts.

    Cheers.

    :ninja:

Nice that the quickedit still exists. Felt like more than 60 seconds to me though.

    :90secondninjaedit:
    :135secondninjaedit:

Quickedit must be two minutes so.

So you can only see your own edited post?

    Howdja do that?

Also, like, what's the point in only seeing your own, you already know what you wrote before

(it helps you to see if a mod has edited your post: Gordon)

    LOL very true.

I guess its if you post tonight after a bottle of vodka and tell that certain someone exactly what you think of them, then wake up the following morning, go "Oh God, what have I done", and then edit your post. Meanwhile, on the other side of town, certain someone has read your post, calls for you to be site banned as your obviously unhinged, so you decide to bluff it, and say "Who, me??", cue Feedback thread, high horses and cat pics.

This way both you and the mods have a record of the original post.
    Solution: No vodka.

Yes, it leaves a nice audit trail for us admins too.
The editing timeout is 2 mins alright, before you get a link.

    DeV.

I can see now that the mistake I made was not factoring in drunkeness.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

Just found out today that it also leaves a copy for the user if a mod edits a post of his (i.e instead of the poster doing the edit), which is pretty handy and as mentioned above, ads a bit of transparency.

Thought it was useless at first but now it's actually a pretty cool feature.

Indeed. Sometimes mods made edits in long posts and I used to spend ages looking for it.

Now I can do it too with Kandoo!
