Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Another battle for these 2 teams, they are already arguing and having incidents so even goverments of 2 countries involved yesterday in all this.Germany didnt make me during this training period to think that they are better than other top european teams and they should win this champ.Maybe this is good chance to prove me i am wrong.Poland on the other side dont have nothing to lose, they played well in qualifications and this is their first euro in history. If they play as good as they know its gonna be draw, but every mistake will be used by Germans and they will win it

Grudge match of Euro 2008.......they hate each other, not to be missed imo

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭delija_sever029

They continue making problems and fighting in Auastria, this is going to be very tough match when we are talking about fans

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,065 ✭✭✭✭Malice

Didn't the two sets of fans manage to not fight in the 2006 World Cup? Hopefully there won't be too much trouble at the game.

Anyway I will be cheering for Poland but I have a feeling that the Germans will triumph.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭delija_sever029

I hope too,but so far there was a lot of problems for austrians to keep them not fighting,i am supporting Poland tonight

As an Englander let me say how glad I am any bother will be between Germans and Poles! :pac: The Bring me the Head of Alfredo Ballack stunt was pure Fleet Street Redtop.
Ahead of the Germany Poland clash at EURO 2008, confrontation between Germand and Polish fans. There had been tension between the two sides weeks before the competition even started.

Last night, hundreds of beer bottles were exchanged between the two sides in Clagenfurt. And what else a beer bottle is for if not for exchange between two opposing groups!

Austrian riot police separated the two sides. The police was immensely helped by a massive downpour of rain that seemed to cool off hot headed fans.

Since 1933, Germany has played Poland 15 times. Germany won 11, and 4 times tied Poland. Will this be the day when Poland is victorious?

    Mike.

Looking forward to this game as it should definitely be a passionate affair. But could someone tell me what Poland's style of play is?

400 arrested when they met in WC06, but most people missed that in the rush to blame the Brits for everything...;)

You're right, I managed to miss that completely. I guess the media were busy reporting on other matters as you say :).

It was a stoppage time winner for the Germans in 2006 right? Lets hope Klose can score a hattrick, and Frings getting a few assists to boost my fantasy league score... :D

    Podolski over Gomez? Gay.

Are they definitely the starting lineups?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭delija_sever029

I dont know, thats something coaches gave as probably starting rosters

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,203 ✭✭✭Attractive Nun

Weird lineups? I thought Gomes was a sure thing to be starting for Germany? Thought Fritz would play in defence as well, but makes sense to have him on the wing I guess. Surely Podolski doesn't deserve to start?

Anyway, anyone have any insights on the Polish team? Don't really know many of the players or how they line up... who's their main man?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

They aren't the line ups from what I can see. Don't think them that early. BBC's latest seems to reckon that Gomes is a cert o start and it's between Klose and Podolski to partner him -
Germany have to choose who will lead their attack, with Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski likely to fight it out for the right to partner Mario Gomez.

However, Germany coach Joachim Loew could decide to switch Podolski to the left-hand side of midfield.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭delija_sever029

Smolarek definitly, best striker in qualifications and best player

Well if Gomes is a definite starter, then surely Klose must partner him!?

What's the winger Fritz like? I havent seen him play before I think.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,685 ✭✭✭Tom65

Gomez better play (and score). I've a tenner on him for top scorer, which I put on the basis that he'd partner Klose ahead of Podolski (either on merit of because Podolski was playing on the wing). They're certainly hyping him up enough in the papers.

Just looking at their last 2 friendly games against Belarus and Serbia.

Klose started with Podolski against Belarus.

And Gomez started with Kuranyi against Serbia.

    ....

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭delija_sever029

Klose wasnt playing against us at all and Podolski got into the game in 2nd half

Podolski is playing on the wing instead of Schweinsteiger, according to Andy Grey on ESPN.

Looked a hint of offside but great initial through ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,213 ✭✭✭✭therecklessone

    Arf. He's very over-rated.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭delija_sever029

good game of Germany,Poland have potential but their tactic is weird, they should play more opened and more attack coz they showed they can do it very good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,815 ✭✭✭Charlie

    Arf. He's very over-rated.

Not in my books son. He might be over-hyped when it comes to Bayern, but he always excels with the national side. 15 Goals, at the age of 23, from the position of midfield, is a great record for an international player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,727 ✭✭✭✭Sherifu

    Fock it. Podolski again.
