Clara and its flags

What's with Clara people and their bunting?

I passed through on Friday and the place looked ready for a carnival with flags, billboards, bunting etc. all erected for Brian Cowen.

Guys it is over a month since Biffo became Taoiseach, the excitement is over and it is time to move on. (residents of Kilbeggan and Tullamore, please note also).

Ah that's nothing. They've been known to leave the Christmas lights up in Clara til March or April.

You do realise of course that those signs have nothing to do with congratulating Brian Cowen really. They're for people who are hoping to benefit from the Taoiseach's generosity

    Like the song says
