Hi, am hoping someone could kindly offer advice. Just moved house and am trying to get the phone line sorted. Called Eircom and apparently there is a phone line active in the house but with another provider but they don't know who with.
Until the current connection is cut, Eircom wont connect us.
Problem is the guy who lived here previously has long moved on and no way of contacting him to see who the provider is. Also Eircom told me to plug in a phone and call a number, which will tell us who the provided is...did this but no dial tone on the phone.
Have also called around a good few of the providers but can't find the one which is connected to our house.
This is driving me mad...eircom said they can't help and seems like there is no way of finding out who the provider is...any ideas or ways around this? Thank you!

Obviously run round the house with a phone and keep trying all the sockets.. if no luck You'll have to try and find where the phone line enters the building ..Connect a phone and dial 198000

If you dial 199000 the exchange will read out the phone number so that you can identify the line too.

If there's still a problem, and eircom will not connect the line, I suggest you should make an official complaint to them in writing.

The follow it up with comreg.
