Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey, im trying to increase my collection of retro games since collecting them is hobby of mine. I play them alot but its also nice to have them in my possesion. Anyway i'm looking for any shops that sell retro games in the Dublin, and by retro i mean games From the Atari 2600 to the NES To the Dreamcast and well everything inbetween. So any Shop names and locations would be greatly apreciated. Thanks in advance!

The only shop i can think of is on lower Talbot street (close to connolly station). It sells second hand school books and stuff but more importantly they have a good selection of games. They dont have many on display but if you ask they have boxes under the counter.

But to be honest, your best bet is adverts.ie

I know that shop too. I once saw a Sega Master System on sale there but I had no idea that they keep stuff under the counter. Hmm, I might take a trip there again... ...

Actually a friend of mine told me about that shop recently he got his dreamcast in there for 50 euro. A sega master system there pretty hard to come buy unless you get one off ebay that must have been a good find. Anyway thanks for the help i will be sure to check the shop out!

    The best place is ebay!

I've totally resurrected my old sega games collection for next to nothing!

if you mean in an actual arcade , forget it , Arcades in dublin are pretty much dead.
If you want to play it at home , off the top of my head Wonderboy on the sega master system was pretty much arcade perfect .so you could either
a/ buy a Sega mastersystem off ebay and a copy of wonderboy (for probably less than 30 quid if you dont mind waiting and watching)
b/ google MAME and try and emulate it (bit dodgy legally)

Anyone know a place in Dublin that repairs old consoles?

Was in a retro games shop in San Diego a couple of weeks ago that did it, would love to have had my NES with me.

What's wrong with your Nes? Many of the problems with them can be solved by replacing the 72-pin connector as far as I know. Shouldnt be too hard to do.

Unfortunately you're not really going to find snes games in Dublin for sale. And if you do they'll be silly expensive :(

Best to stick with ebay , charity shops and adverts.

Also Booxmart/gamexchange is the place on Talbot street and they don't have SNES games.

So, Talbot St. place is the only one focusing on selling older video games? That's the entire indy gaming market in Dublin? My lord, I thought I was just out of touch, didn't realize things were this ****ty. We've got the chains, and very little else.

There's a place that is supposed to be selling retro games out of the Road Records store on Fade Street, just around the corner from Hogan's bar and the George's Street Arcade. Had a look in the shopfront today, says the grand opening is tomorrow. No idea what the stock is like but it's worth having a look if your in town.

Saw the shopfront for that place last weekend (The R.A.G.E. for those who are curious). I'm teaching in the morning, flying to england in the evening and fairly broke, but gonna leg it over in between obligations to go have a look-see.

Its the prices in that new shop that are a mystery, must be high, always are, I crave disappointment me!

I reckon an irish online retro shop would be a far better bet than a bricks and mortar one.

Funny you said that as I looked into doing that about 2 or 3 years ago. Myself and my missus done a lot of research into it as I wanted to make a real go of it whilst turning some sort of profit.
It just was not a goer at the time though and we would never have made any money out of it which wouldn't do as we had up to 20,000 to invest and this is without having to pay any rent cos we would have used our house as a base of operations.

He mentioned the big "E" cower in fear before the wrath of nintendos legal team!

only joking sharkbite, but i dont think the mods like us endorsing any sort of emulation!

As long as you have backups its alright, and luckily enough we have a huge storage facility for storing all our games we have backed up with roms, your welcome to use it :D
