    Hi all,

I have a 1998 a4 tdi but the synchromesh for 4th gear is broken. It doesn't bother me but have to sell the car so need to fix it. Does anyone know anywhere near Galway where they recondition gearboxes or sell reconditioned ones?

I priced one from Traynors but I'm not sure if they are reconditioned or are you just taking a chance. Anyone know if Traynors recondition them before sale?

i had a 1997 1.6 a4 and my gearbox blew up.i went to traynors and got a gearbox for €160 and the car ran perfectly till i sold it.traynors are very fair if you buy a part and it is dodgey they will replace it for ye.so my advice is to go with them and then sell the car if you still dont trust it(as i did).

buy the way traynors dont re-condition gearboxes all the parts are from crashed cars but i have never had a bad part sent to me.

I'm only changing the gearbox to sell the car. I think I'll try it. Anything reconditioned costs too much!! Thanks for the advice.
