    Hi all,
I have a '98 BMW 7-series (E38 2.8i model). I brought it in from the UK last year and haven't had it serviced yet here. There is still one green service light left but for piece of mind I'd like to get it serviced before anything goes wrong. I'm not a typical wealthy 7-series owner, far from it - I bought mine for €10k and its a dream car with 140k miles on the clock, but I'm afraid of the cost if anything major goes wrong.
So I was looking to see if anyone knows of reputable service centres in Dublin that are very good with BMW's and reasonably priced, so I can avoid bringing it to a BMW dealer which I'm sure is astronomical.
    Thanks a mill...

    Thanks a mill Stevie.
Rang Richie in ACC and he spent a good 5 mins talking me through everything and will give it a BMW inspection 1 and give it a general once-over to make sure everything is ok.. Quoted me circa 300 quid. I'll take that!!

I'd recommend AC Car Sales as well. Used them and found them very good.

Hi, E38-beemer and welcome to boards! I've owned an E38 for over 4 years (it's for sale at the moment, see my sig) and I've found it to be a great ownership experience. Superb grand saloon and running costs aren't all that high. Very reliable and if bought cheap (as you obviously did), depreciation isn't really an issue either. Over those 4 years I only had one major and one minor issue. The major issue was a suspension job at about 135k miles. Cost just over a grand at an indy specialist. It will probably need doing on your car too at some point, but that might still be a few years away. When I bought the car at 110k miles, the cats had already been replaced. I presume it's the same on your car, if not, prepare to spend some serious money. The minor issue I had was a drivers window winding mechanism (cable snapped through wear&tear)

Best of luck with your car and I'm sure the lads at ACC will keep your car well maintained at reasonable cost. I've never had any dealings with them myself, but I've come across plenty of positive experiences from other people over the years

    Well wear!

Hi Unkel, thanks for the piece of mind advice! hope you are right! Mine has also a lowered suspension like yours so hopefully I don't run into problems in the near future - but the guys in AC will check it anyway.
Actually, do you have any recommendations for an audio electrician. My sounds are giving me some problems in that sometimes the audio kicks in (radio/CD/sat-nav voice) upon engine startup and then hit a bump in the road and its gone. So obviously a loose connection somewhere, but I'm afraid to leave it in to a BMW specialist as they'll charge mad money for labour and may not fix the issue. But if I knew of a good auto-electrician I'd get him out to look at it. I've rang some audio specialist companies like safe-sounds in drumcondra and they won't touch it coz it is BMW equipment! I also bought (from eBay) the BMW 16:9 widescreen OBC monitor and MK4 dvd-rom SAT-NAV box months ago, but again, I'm struggling to get anyone to install it!! Its driving me nuts.. any advice here qwould be great!

I don't. But you could have a good look on e38.org. Or else start a new thread looking for a good auto electrician in the Dublin area

Another good source of help and info about your 7-series is the forums here
