Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Let me see if I've got this right. If somebody gets a "two-year suspended" sentence, does this mean they only serve the jail time if they reoffend during the two years? After that they're in the clear?

Yes. If they commit a crime in the 2 year duration then the new crime and the old crime will all be counted during the new sentancing. ;)

Ah, so effectively it's like a, "Well, we'll let you off this time, but..."

It's also worth noting that if somebody does commit an offence during the period of a suspended sentence and the court, as a result, decides to activate the suspended sentence, then any sentence received for the second offence will run consecutively to the reactivated sentence (as opposed to concurrently).

It depends on the exact wording used by the judge, normally he will give a 2 year suspended sentence and suspend it for x period of time, say e.g. 1 year. In that case it can only be reactivated if he re offends with in the year and then they get a 2 year sentence. They also have to be brought back before the court to have it reactivated
