I know there's lot of threads in various ways talking about this but I would appreciate any advice.

I want to buy something decent and have approx. €8k to spend including VRT. (more at a push).

I currently drive a 00 Megane Van, so this would be a real upgrade for me. Can people let me know what they reckon are the best cars to go for when importing from UK or N.I.

I can see that larger cars are the best value and thats really what I'd be after, other than maybe a coupe. I am open to anything that's a good deal with a good saving, petrol or diesel, insurance is no probs.

    Any ideas appreciated.

I wouldn't rule out buying a car here, the UK is not necessarily cheaper these days. Other than that, you really need to start looking at cars here to see what's right for you.

More motorways for driving in the UK as oppossed to NI, plus more of a choice in UK. Make sure you do a HPI check on whatever you are thinking about buying (Very important)

I wouldn't buy a NI diesel, due to all that dodgy diesel sloshing about up there. A fair few of the cars for sale in the north seem to have just been brought over from Britain - they still have the British plates on.

    Not your ornery onager

Make a list of the cars you like and hit the net.
