This is an interesting question; you've done some of your Leaving Cert; still some to do but would you like to teach Leaving Cert?

I wouldn't mind teaching to be honest. I'd actually really like it and considering it strongly as a career. Yes, there are some dickheads that you have to put up with but there are alot of students interested in doing well. What subject would you teach? Think of the holidays, plus you can supervise exams and correct exams and get paid for it.

Yes, it'd ba a class job IMO, although I'd prefer primary teaching. I'd probably teach the business subjects though, but maybe Irish and History or Economics, depends on what course I get tbh!

I'm thinking of becoming a Business Teacher in Secondary school.

It's said that teaching is a very fulfilling job (though I could see extreme frustration to be honest). I'm considering teaching as a career, more likely as a lecturer with any luck. I don't think I could handle a class. They'd destroy me. I'd come in optimistic and motivated, I'd leave a jaded husk of a girl.

As much as I'd love to instil a love of Irish/Maths/Physics/Art (which would be my subjects of preference), I can't explain concepts at all. I'd doom my poor students. Though I would love to be there to try and help people through what is certainly a difficult time, I can imagine it's quite stressful for the teachers if they get too invested in their students.

I don't think I would make a very good teacher. If I were to teach it would probably be in Religion or Business.

I'd very much enjoy teaching students who were interested in the subject, or helping students finding the sujects difficult.

But a load of students in Secondary schools are just disruptive twats and I couldn't deal with them at all.

So if I got rid of all the badly behaved students I'd be grand :) In the real world, unfortunately, things like that don't happen.

    Arts in UCC perhaps?

My maths teacher in 6th Year was also qualified to teach History but he never did because we had enough History teachers already.

I would yeah, I think teaching'd be class. I dunno why, but I think it'd be kinda entertaining. You just gotta know what to be aware of, I mean, we've all been students at some stage, we know how boring some classes are and the dread felt toward others. I think it'd be interesting to see it from the other side. I'd love to teach Irish/English/History...although, I don't think I could live up to the standards set by my Irish and History teachers. They're a bit amazing O.O

I really considered going for a history H.Dip but decided against it this year. I'm going on to do business so who knows maybe I'll teach that someday. I think I'd quite like it.

+1!! I want to do English and History in college anyway, but I love Irish too... Is it really weird that I'd like to teach the subjects in my old secondary school? As far as I know though, there's tons of English, Irish AND History teachers at my school at the mo, so the likelihood of getting a job there is quite small.

I'll probably end up a lecturer... I can totally imagine LC students destroying my morale...

+1 right back atcha! XD Old schools ftw, regardless of how sad that may seem. And yeah, from talking to teachers in the school and the hDips there, I know well it's close to impossible to get a job there. Apparently the positions are well sought after...who'd have thought?

Deffo doing English & Irish next year though, still debating History purely cos I'm worried of ending up doing all LC subjects again :P
