Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Taking a year off college, can I receive the dole?

I've just finished my 3rd year of a 4 year full time course but I'll be taking one year out to save up funds for 4th year. Does this count as not being in full time education? Am I eligible to sign on?

I think so, you are taking a year out and as a result won't be returning to full time education. You may need a letter from the college in question stating your situation and that you intend to re-commence full time in 09. Aside from that I don't see any problems.

So long as you are actually looking for work for the year, then yes, you should be entitled to jobseeker's assistance (or benefit if you've worked up enough PRSI contributions through working over the past few years).
