    I have an A4 1.9tdi multitronic auto and when i went to start it last night, and reverse out of the driveway, the gearbox went into 'back-up' mode (PRNDS all lit up on the dash and it woul'dnt engage a gear). I left it for an hour and went back to it again and it was ok again.

    I'm going to get it checked out but could anyone offer me any idea what is wrong? I was going to head to westport this weekend but is that too much a risk without getting it checked out first?

    ps. its an 04 A4 with only 42k on the clock. It shouldn't be going already should it?
