Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I got this:

    http://www.smarttech.ie/store/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=857

Looks great, lots of space, well ventilated. Some nice features.

This is their list of cabinets:

Most of the Smartech stuff is from Sanus , lots of shops in Dublin stock Sanus stuff though the prices in high street shops can be outrageous compared to buying online.

Heres a link to the Sanus site , this can be quite useful as there are detailed tech drawings and assembly instructions for all their units , it gives a good feel for what you are getting....

    http://www.sanus.com/world/en/

By the way , I have this one , it works well enough for me ,

    http://www.smarttech.ie/store/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=269

However the advertising on Smartech is a monumental pisstake ! Honestly ,
Sanus’ unique convection cooling system allows heated air to escape as cooler air is drawn in, keeping AV components at a proper temperature. Optional drawer allows flexibility in cabinet design. Features include locking adjustable shelves, an extra-large wire channel and furniture-grade hinges. Includes one door with glass insert.

Its a wood cabinet with a vent at the top and at the bottom , what the hell is unique about that , hot air rises ...so what ?
    Convection Cooling System
Concealed venting allows heated air to flow out the top while drawing in cool air through the bottom, keeping AV components at a proper temperature

This seems worded to give you the impression that it actually has a cooling system , it doesnt , its just vented , anything in a cabinet is going to be hotter than anything not in a cabinet.
    Enclosed Architecture
Enclosed architecture conceals an entire AV system for a clean look

Meaning the unit is screwed together , and the back is screwed on with woodscrews , so you better make sure your wiring is right before you screw the back on , otherwise its a bitch to correct it !
Features include locking adjustable shelves, an extra-large wire channel and furniture-grade hinges. Includes one door with glass insert.

Locking adjustable means that once you have picked your position you screw it into place ... so adjustable just the once really !
Extra large wire channel mean there is about 1 inch of space between the back of the unit and the back edge of the shelf , the speaker wires come out of the bottom of the unit.

So watch out for " misleading" advertising ! Its a nice unit , I like it , but the above is dishonest hype.
Use the Sanus link and get the drawings to see exactly what your getting.

Yes, the "cooling system" claim is a bit rich, isn't it? And they are fond of the flowery descriptions - "wire management system"!!

Having said that, the WFV66 is a great cabinet. It is a nice piece of furniture. The centre cavity door is mesh which means it can house a centre speaker. The left and right can be either wood or glass so you can use a sender or the remote. While the outrageously described "cooling system" is indeed no more that ventilation, it's well done. There's loads of it, the top and bottom of the front and back, and at the sides, but it's practically invisible.

They sell themselves short on the measurements though. I wasn't going to get this as the quoted measurements are smaller than my amp but when I called they assured me that it would fit. I chanced it and it fit comfortably.

With the WFV66, there no problem adjusting the shelves, I had to adjust mine several times for the different device sizes before I got it the way I wanted. Back can come on and off as you please, also.

The difference in prices for the same product is incredible.

I saw this product on the Smarttech website and I thought €179 was a good price.

    http://www.smarttech.ie/store/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=858&osCsid=d94cf0eb1ad9ece6262d19fd039f1870

I then entered the product code into google and was shocked to see the price of €333.30 on Xenos.ie (http://xenos.ie/index.php?productID=113007)

I then found the exact same product on Pixmania for €80!!!

    Crazy!

Maybe that price on the Pixmania site is a mistake. I just found the product on the Pixmania Pro (their business site) for €250 + VAT.

    http://www.pixmania-pro.com/ie/uk/623685/art/sanus/nf204b-tv-stand.html

Glad I ordered it from the Pixmania site before I suspected it was a mistake! ;)
