Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

France are missing a real presence up front and a leader at the back, they really ****ed up picking Boumsong and Gomes ahead of Trezagol and Mexes.

Agreed. Sometimes, at least, you get what you deserve.

    from the BBC
France coach Raymond Domenech pointed an accusing finger at his players after a 4-1 defeat to the Netherlands left them fighting for Euro 2008 survival.

Domenech's side have only one point from two games and they now need to beat Italy in their final Group C game.

He said: "Certain players did not do what they had to do.

"The players have to show themselves worthy of wearing the French shirt. Big players have to know how to get over things like this and to come back."

Domenech added: "Really this hurts. Our defence was always our strength. We were unlucky at times, but they have quality and we were missing something.

"We were not efficient and that has been our recurring problem for a while now. You can't do much about that. Every time we came back into the match they scored, and that's what killed us."

He said: "As long as our destiny is in our own hands we can go through. We must not give in. We must play a high-level match we are capable of."

classy guy. it also shows how he is delusional, as his destiny is no longer in his own hands. them Romanians need to not win.

I wasn't joking when I said he was worst than Staunton!

Staunton nearly always had half the squad injured. This joker has the pick of France, and yet still picks the wrong squad/team, and then blames the players! I still maintain, that after Spain, France have the best selection of players in Europe. For them to fail so miserably just shows how awful Domenech is.

Maybe these wins are flattering Holland? Maybe Italy and Grance just aren't very good this time around. Both were closely run by the Scotch in the qualfiers after all.

Anyway Holland did this in 1974 and 1978, steamrolling world class side after world class side on the way to two World Cup finals ..... and lost both.

Domenech honestly doesn't have a clue and I really don't know how they managed to get out of the group instead of Scotland. They haven't been any use un a tournament since he took over.

Some of the selection choices for France have been absurd. The fact that Clichy, Sagna and Trezeguet didn't even make the provisional squad speaks volumes.

I think he doesn't actually watch his players play for their clubs...Toulalan starting while Flamini isn't even in the squad? Sagnol starting with Sagna not in the squad? Gomis in the squad ahead of Trezeguet?

Even just the fact that Diarra is in the squad ahead of the man he couldn't displace at his club so had to move...though they both deserve to be there.

Id say he's well and truly fired after this campaign anyway..nutjob.

They came second in a group with Switzerland, South Korea and Togo!

Then Zidane turned it on and got them through to the final. In all fairness they were lucky too, they played a terrible Brazilian side and didn't Figo blow two sitters in the semi final?

.... or undefeated in 17 games (both in finals and qualifying) and World Cup finalists (losing only on penos). You can look at it any way you like if you so choose.
