Right sorry if this isn't the right thread, mods feel free to move.

But the problem is, I can't seem to get onto any other site except boards. I can't get onto eircom to check my email or anything. I have tried clearing private data and cookies but still no joy. Anybody know what the problem is?

    Any help greatly appreciated
    Cheers

Sounds like a DNS issue. Try entering http://66.102.9.147/ and see do you get to Google. If you do, your connection is fine but DNS could be the issue. Try changing DNS settings to Opendns, www.opendns.com or http://208.67.219.99/

Thanks mate, it opens google but this may be a stupid question now, but how do I change the DNS settings?

Agreed! OpenDNS is a treat! You should consider changing to it even if this doesn't resolve the issue! ;)

Depends on your configuration, ISP and modem/router. If it's DSL and a router, you can often enter a DNS server somewhere in the settings for it. Usually you access router config at 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.254.1, or some local address like that. Look for WAN settings and you should find a DNS setting. OpenDNS servers are 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.

It is also possible to set the DNS server in your network interface properties. On Windows, open Network Places properties. Select the network interface that your broadband is connected to and open properties (right click). Find TCP/IP settings and open properties and you'll see DNS server settings there.

Just a thanks is fine. Put it on the back of a 50 euro note though, works nicely :pac:
