Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ive got a tenner on Spain to win the tournament with Torres top scorer at 17/1 & a tenner on the same with Villa top scorer. Lots of goals for those two please.

    3-1 Spain

Villa, Torres and Senna - Wilhelmsson

Was Wilhelmsson not ruled out for the tournament after the last match?

I hope George Hamilton is taking notes. That's class.

I'd love if Spain, er, took them apart. Nothing against Sweden, it's just so hard to get excited about them. On the other hand, if Spain come second in the group, doesn't it set up a quarter-final with Holland? That could be a goal orgy.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Why is this game on at 5pm? Surely this is the bigger game of the two and should be the night time game? This clashes with the Dublin hurling Semi-Final so gonna have to record this and watch it after.

Anyway I think people are underestimating Sweden. they didn't have a great performance first match against the Greeks but that could be down to how the Greeks played. If the Swedish defence can have a good game then they will give Spain a real match. I'm gonna say draw in this but would love a Swedish win.

    Heja Sverige!

    Gotta be the Spaniards

    3-0 Torres hat-trick please

Villa to have a stinker => his value to drop to £5m => Pool sign him => Then he comes out and says I played s'hit so I could get my dream move to Liverpool and play wih my mates Nando and Pepe :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Ill settle for a 2-2 draw that shows just how weak the Spanish defense is.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭delija_sever029

    Draw

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kraggy

I think this going to be a draw.

Weak Spanish defence coupled with great Swedish spirit (and a rejuvenated Ibrahmovich) makes it possible.

    2-2

Spain: Casillas, Ramos, Puyol, Marchena, Capdevila, Xavi, Silva, Senna, Iniesta, Villa, Torres.

Sweden: Isaksson, Stoor, Nilsson, Mellberg, Hansson, Svensson, Ljungberg, D Andersson, H Larsson, Ibrahimovic, Elmander.

    Mike.

:D:D Sub me says Torres - sub you Arragones :D:D:D

Nice link up play from Silva and Torres.

Also nice work by Torres to finish as looked like Villa was setting himself up for the finish behind him :D "I told you no more goals for you Daveed until you sign for my Liverpool team, I made you look a bit too good the last day, your price is a bit expensive Mr Rafa says"

    I'll get my coat ;)

    Puyol off. Albiol on.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 9,648 Mod ✭✭✭✭mayordenis

idiot ref - they complain about diving but they won't give a free if you stay on your feet even if it's a foul - ramos simply jumper over a tackle that completely impeded his progress - just bugs me.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 9,648 Mod ✭✭✭✭mayordenis

    1-1 - awful defending

not great defence by Spain

    Lovely finish

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

    1-1 Ibrahimovic - did well

Some shocking defending by Ramos there

Casillas could have done a bit better

Spain being beaten in the midfield last 15 mins , giving up the ball too cheaply.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,441 ✭✭✭✭jesus_thats_gre

Am not wholly convinced by Puyol but his passion masks quite a few of his shortcomings. I would put Marchena and Capdevila down as major weaknesses. I haven't seen either play much but there defo isn't something right about them. What are they like when playing with their clubs?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

i think Ramos has been a bit poo in general

Lovely bit of play there by Torres even if the Swedes did get a free kick

Villa been mucho quiet so far. Price minus £5m However Mellberg seems to be marking him fairly closely

Iniesta is also not having a good game being a bit outmuscled

    Jesus, blatant penalty.

Ibrahimovic has made a show of him. Certainly not the sort of defender I'd see doing too well in the premiership.

    Fink you fink!

Its no accident that Spains most famous players are nearly always strikers, they can't defend for toffee.
