Not worried about vetting. Not worried about PCA. Big time worried about AC score!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 184 ✭✭WannabePC

In C1 I had fairly long gaps between stages, other than the medical pass letter, which was a day or so later.

There was a gap of about 3/4 weeks or s between each stage for me but I got pass letters etc back very quickly.

I messed up my AC. Completed everything then wrote my report in the unmarked booklet and quickly scrawled bullet points in the 6mins I had left into the correct booklet. Could I still pass AC?

Pretty sure as long as you put down the relevant info, the format doesn't really make a difference.

I put some down in bullet points and some in paragraphs depending on what I was trying to put across.

I wouldn't worry too much, you are assessed on the entire day and not just the last writing exercise, so you could still score highly.

hopefully! Can't believe how silly I was! Fingers crossed

I scored really well in all my role plays and didn't do too bad in the preparation exercise but messed up the final report quite badly and still passed and got the call to go to GV. Even if you scored only 10 out of 25 for the last report you could get still pass and get in. When are the results for the AC due to be out?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 94 ✭✭stm1

I am in the same boat. Don't feel like I completed the final report well at all - or the prep parts either. But then again its designed so that we don't come away feeling like we aced every part. Otherwise its too easy.

    Results are out mid April.

April seems like a lifetime away for you guys, better putting the process out of your head until then!

As others said it is just one element of the day. Still perfectly feasible to pass this.

    Best of luck :D

I've no idea how it went. All I can think about is what I didn't say/write.
    Out of my hands now.

I am exactly the same, sitting here thinking I should have done this and dammit why did I do that! Bit worried with everyone talking about only getting through with scores of 70ish plus. That seems like a high score to me but then again we have no idea how they are scoring it so maybe its not. Too much over thinking and too much waiting time left lol

  • Registered Users Posts: 80 ✭✭Momc82

70+ seems crazy to me too.
I hope we both did better than we think!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 94 ✭✭stm1

I'm so glad to see others thinking exactly the same as me. My head was frazzled for about a week after mine. As others have said though you just have to put it out of your head. April is a long way away.

First time AC candidate here with mine being very soon.
Never felt as nervous about anything before- definitely a large part of it is the 'walking into the unknown' as such.
Think my biggest disadvantage will definitely be nerves- I can get myself easily worked up to the point of not being able to think straight.
I've a few questions for you peeps who have been through this a few times:
    1) In terms of business attire for the girls, do most girls go in trousers or skirts?Likewise heels or flats?
    2) Apart from all relevant documentation, is there anything I should bring with me? Planning on bringing lunch since we can't leave the location although I doubt I'll have much time to eat.
    3) is there any way at all to prepare? Want this badly and don't want to mess it up. Any tips at all would be greatly appreciated
    4) will i always be playing the role of a constable?

As I mentioned above, any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi my lovely!!!

I scored better my first AC so don't panic about the Unknown lol. This goes for the AC and PCA, I'm sure I'm not the only one on here but anyone I've personally spoken to, they felt more nervous the second time cos they knew what was ahead of them.

I woke a black/grey pencil dress, natural make up and a pair of kitten heeled court shoes with a light weight black cardigan. Layers are always best in case you get flustered lol.

I brought snack bars, fruit and a bottle of water. They have tea and coffee available while you're waiting between scenarios and if you're a smoker you check in your papers and can be excused for a quick break. You'll have a break between some scenarios, depending on the rotation you get so I just grazed and went through what I had done previously.

Answers to question 3 & 4 my lovely, read all the Apendix on your email. There's clues in there about what they're looking for and what you will be doing. Fair enough there's nothing about the scenarios but the qualities are obvious. Keep them in mind when you're going through your AC.

Don't panic and if you do mess up forget about it. There's several stages to the day. I totally messed up one, got a D in it and walked away with an A overall the first time so it can be done.

Just remember they're not looking for ready made constables, they're looking for someone with the potential to become one!!!!

Good luck my lovely, any more questions feel free to give me a shout x

Highly recommend this. They do have tea, coffee and water but much better to bring your own drink of choice. Don't forget those snacks! :pac: :pac:

Did my AC last week. It was tough as I knew it would be!!! The part that really amazed me was the lady at the end came to take our folders and said we might be called for PCA from 1 March onwards and it doesn't mean we've passed AC she said the aim is for everyone who has attended the AC to go through PCA. I just think that's mental going through PCA not knowing if you've passed AC. Anyone else told this?

    Doesn't sound right.
I have my physical in March for the 1405 campaign. .Now there was issues with the forces budget and my score was mid low 60s and its taken me 15monthes to get my letter from passing AC for 1405 campaigned to be doing my physical

The day before my physical I also have the AC for this new campaign 1505- tough 2days.

The process may well have changed now but doing your fitness test the month before the results for the AC are out sounds a bit iffy....tho with deloitte the unexpected is to be expected.

nothing sounds right with psni recruitment buddy. Unfortunately.

Hell they even managed to schedule my medical (1405 campaign) on the same date as my assessment centre for the latest campaign.

    Ano,it's a mess lol
My AC for 1505 is day before my physical for 1405..thankfully they didn't fall on the same day.
Least I'm in both still, cover all aspects.

Precisely, one would like to think (in both our cases) by being in both recruitment campaigns we will get in somehow eventually

My understanding is you could be called from March onwards if you scored highly. So you'll only get called IF you pass.

They did the exact same last year but this time they are letting us know.

In reality I'd say you're right they will take the highest scores from March onwards but that's not what she said to me because I questioned her about it, she clearly said you can be called from 1st March onwards regardless if you've passed or not! She emphasised to everyone in my group to start training if we hadn't already. Don't know what to make of myself but I'm just stating what she told me. They sure know how to mess with your head lol

That's exactly what my group where told aswell, it is odd but I don't think anyone will complain about getting progressed to the next stage before results are out.

I'd say they just said that to keep themselves right to prevent an influx of emails once people start hearing of others being invited for PCA. The AC is marked on individual merit and not whether you are better than the person before or after you so they know who has scored well enough to pass. I highly doubt they will bring low scores or fails through this early if at all.

The way it was said at mine was the opposite lol. He put it across that only if you passed you'd be called early. So yes you passed but wouldn't receive your breakdown email until later.

I'd be gutted if I was asked to PCA only to be told later I'd failed AC

This is all really strange. On that plan I could be invited to do PCA while waiting on the call in March. So I could be waiting on two calls if they don't close the previous campaign soon. Would that mean I get 2 jobs and 2 wages...?

No they said they would start putting people through to the next stage in the 15 campaign. Said they want to start inductions in the next two - three months. So will be pushing through the stages.

oh yeah I don't know about that. my assessment centre is coming up for the 1509 campaign so obviously I haven't been told anything about quick progressions.

id really rather progress through to the end goal with my 1405 application though.

In saying that, if it took another 6 months I would gladly accept that if it meant getting in eventually.

Rest of the stages are easy after the assessment centre so if you score highly in that, I cant see why you wont do well :)

    Unless you like your drugs.....

  • Registered Users Posts: 141 ✭✭Drummer64

Love your name very hopeful have seen you alot on here and can tell your really giving it your all.

Not too fond of the drugs, quit smoking just to train for the PCA! Guess it's all out of my hands now.

I thought Drummer was being very hopeful of calls early march, was going to say slow down a bit, I'm not ready for that just yet.

    Thanks very much :)

I really want in but then so does everyone else on here. I'm just happy I discovered this place otherwise I'd be completely in the dark with everything.

I some decent road running/ interval training like sprints should serve you well for the pca.

1509 assessment centre was brutal. Definitely harder than 1405 in my opinion. Fun but not looking forward to the results!

    Really should change my username....

Oh yeah and we were not specifically orally told about any quick progressions as per previous posts. Did say something somewhere about possibly being put through pca if you pass the assessment centre possibly even before you get your results.

Don't think there will be any dilemma of people being called for pca then finding out they failed the centre.

Told at my AC last week by a member of Deloitte highest scorers would be processed in March for pca

  • Registered Users Posts: 57 ✭✭JD2020

Done my AC recently and was told that invitation to PCA is not an indication of scoring highly or even passing! They are wanting to put everyone through PCA, starting tomorrow.
