hey gee-22, basically thats what it tells you!! if you stand a chance and how long it is before you are likley to receive the call, however your religious background is a major factor!! if your from the non roman catholic background to stand a realistic chance you must have a high score... as there is more non r/c applying than r/c

I think a non-RC would need to be getting 450 or under in the merit list to really stand a chance. People may have got in with a higher merit number, but someone else would need to confirm this.

Hey guys, this is my first post! I did my AC early July, got my Vetting forms in the post mid July and sent them off before the 14 day limit. I got a call from vetting at the end of August to clearify some details, so at least I know they have LOOKED at my vetting forms. Waiting to hear SOMETHING now. :pac:

When the merit pool is out, will we get our scores in the post or will we have to call up?

Welcome! You do have to phone for your merit number, its not available until the end of September though, if its any consolation, we are all in the same boat. Some of us have passed Ac and had vetting, some of us have passed Ac and not had vetting but we are all waiting.
The medicals have started tho not too any boardsies have had them yet.
Anyway, best of luck with your campaign!

But if you are outside the Northern Irish jurisdiction? And besides I refuse to hand over any information until they reveal the merit list!

quick question, i posted my vetting off about a week or so ago and i was wanting to change my job but was worried incase this would hold the vetting up? would i definitely have to inform them of my change of job? any help would b greatly appreciated

It would probably be best that Vetting Section were informed of any changes. Call 028 90650222 and ask to be put through to vetting. They will then advise you better than any of us could.

My hunch is that it would make your vetting run a lot more smoothly.

when do 'dear johns' go out? after merit list at end of month or any time even if you are currently being vetted???? cheers

thanks carlty, i would probably not change it until vetting is passed and sorted. but im guessing if i did change it and informed vetting that it would then hold up the vetting being passed, wouldnt it?

I dont think in this campaign that anyone who has received vetting thus far will be gettin a dear john, not judging by the telephone calls that boardsies have had with recruitment and vetting.

A few weeks ago I called recruitment and was told that the merit list was being compiled and that it would be apparent who would not have made it high enough up to be considered this time round and that letters would be sent to those people shortly

From what I gathered of this conversation, and I listened very carefully, it sounds like there may be dear johns next week to coincide with the merit list being ready.

Lets hope none of our colleagues get bad news through the door in the coming weeks. We've all done brilliantly to get this far.:D

So this is where everyone is hanging out now. I've been in hibernation after stressing myself out with these threads. It's nearly a year and a half since I applied now and still no word! Nervous breakdown is coming to mind. So when are the next phone calls going out for C13? How are all the C14ers coping? I feel like a stranger here now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 721 ✭✭✭goodcopbadcop

Next phone calls should be out in the next week or so. Hope you get it, you have been waiting such a long time

Hey dude, been a while hope alls well in the ol board. What phone call you talking about? We call them? I see Mrs Genehunter said we'd have to call them. Do you think that my vetting by the guards last year would speed things up? I remember reading on a board that 6 guards do all the vetting!! No wonder why they take so long!

This is what i hate about vetting....

....If you phone vetting and they tell you your vetting's 'ongoing', 24 hours, 48 hours......one week later, you're sitting at your computer saying to yourself, "okay, it's been 24 hours/48 hours/1 week since i called, maybe it's finished now?"

    BUT U JUST DON'T KNOW!!

What the most amount of times anyone has phoned vetting?
Did the people in vetting get to know anyones voice?
I wouldn't wanna ring any more that once every month (and even that seems a bit like 'pestering')

    I've slowly gone mad

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭PapaYankeeGirl

I just rang the once, luckily i got the answer i was hoping for :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,012 ✭✭✭MrsGeneHunt

I was vetted for a job in the Support Team. I was told it could take 14 weeks. It only took 6. But its not as detailed as the PSNI vetting. So I'm thinking if mine cleared in 8 - 12 weeks I'd be pleased.
All my addresses are Belfast though which technically should help.
It takes as long as it takes!!!
I woudlnt pester them, they're going to be getting enough over the following weeks with the merit numbers etc. And phone calls hold them back from doing their job - getting your vetting done!

Hi, just a quick question if anyone knows, I'm getting married in a month or so, do I have to ring vetting and let them know? I put down all my partners info on the vetting sheet but will it make any difference?

Not that I'm aware of, dont think anyone has posted that they've got vetting.

Anyway, theres still a looonng way to go in this process yet so sit back and relax. Plus next week we can find out our merit number so everything should be a bit clearer then.
    Hang in there.;)

I rang vetting last week. Same story. They informed me that there are still vetting forms to be sent out and if you haven't received any to date it you could still get one soon. They have sent them out so far only to those with the Highest scores!
