I ticked catholic even though I have more faith in a lump of coal than I do in any religion.

I ticked it because I knew it might be to my advantage, The psni want the figures to say its an equal force, and since im baptised, went to catholic school etc

Other than that I have no religious belief or status, if anyone asks me what I am my answer is always none or i dont have one, but if I know that it might help me get a job, then of course i will tick a box that says im catholic, i would tick a box that says I will dance naked for the chief constable if that is what is going to help get me in :D

:D Well, at least you are honest about it. I am one of the 'dying breed' who practises so no difficulty in choosing a box for me. Don't know if I would dance naked for the chief constable though? Maybe? Oh Ok I would lmao.

The hearing test... let me say this

The lady will tell you not to stare at the walls, which are covered in millions of little circles... but you will still stare at it anyways, but If you can look at something else do. or close your eyes, they will make you dizzy and can put you off hearing the beeps.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 246 ✭✭Maura2145

so what are you supposed to do when you hear these beeps then? push a buzzer?!

Do they give you any kind of indication after the medical? Or do you just have to wait for the letter?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 721 ✭✭✭goodcopbadcop

No seriously thats a good point if you have a cold you would probably have trouble hearing the beeps its that quiet in there

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 104 ✭✭Griffer2

you just have to wait for the letter! they may say thinks like ok thats fine or thats good throughout it but thats about it really!!!

    Nope.

Me and PYG in the same boat waiting tho she scored better than me.

I guess we could be in for a long wait then. Do you think we have a chance of even getting invited to a medical?

It has been said many a time on the boards for applicants of non rc religious backgrounds need to be scoring within 1-250.

Dont know weather to be positive or not.

I've just remembered something that's scared the bejeezus out of me, my friend just mentioned it!
At the end of June i was a bit drunk at a party and had 3 puffs on a joint!! I haven't touched the stuff in over a decade and I came to my senses and gave it back after 3 puffs.

Now i'm keeking myself, my medical is about a week away!!! I really can't believe one stupid drunken mistake may ruin my chances of joining the Police.

I'm such an idiot, because if i don't get in it's my own stupid fault.

    :D:D:D

I'm not denying that i did it, or trying to pretend i didn't know what it was. I just had a momentary lapse in judgement, I'm sure most if us have done something (or someone!) we really shouldn't have when drink has been taken.

It's just that the timing of my feck up is unbelievable!

Hi can anyone help me please?

I got a letter saying psni received the letter with my name on the merit list and im at final stages of selection process which may include medical and vetting and as it may take some time and can I notify them in writing of any changes in my personal circumstances since my initial application. What do you think they mean by that?

Also Does this mean I could be still in with a chance of at least getting vetted and a medical? I'm thousand and odd in merit list so just took it for granted I was out nowbut this has made me think I still might have a chance. Thanks for your help.

Exactly what it says on the tin.. you MAY get Vetting and you MAY get a medical. You also MAY NOT.
Over a thousand in the merit list....probably you are out of the running to be honest but you never know. Someone RC istarting in November with merit score of over 1000. Depends on background but I'm thinking you are RC background as non RC in 800s have had Dear John letter.

I'm waiting patiently on my medical results and it's killing me. Honestly, this is nothing compared to the waiting on IST, AC, Merit List. Probably cause it's the absolute final stage. Almost like waiting on 'the call'... kind of...

    I'm dreaming about it ffs!

I need something to take my mind of this.... I've tried porn. Any other suggestions?
