But honestly, can the OP not just go to one of the Irish boards (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=904) if they are so interested in speaking as Gaeilge? Speaking in a language most people will not understand is just creating a non-issue, and the OPs post here suggests he has some bizarre republican vendetta against this site.

If you wish to speak in Irish, I would suggest making your own Irish message board. I may even pop in and post something in English.

This site is a (mostly) English one. Why do you have an issue with that?

No it wasn't and neither was yours.

Every time I have to ban someone from PI or any forum I am sorry,
sorry that they could not read the charter and behave.
Ideally I and all the other mods should never have to ban anyone.

I knew I would get banned for my comment (seeing as criticism is not allowed on boards) but the original poster should not have been banned.
I agree with you 100per cent

Yes, we did deserve to get banned, whether you like it or not. What you said, and ultimately my response, we were both off-topic and made no contribution to the thread as a whole.

Yeah you just ban them cause you cant handle a rational arguement.

I was banned for speaking Irish. The mod deliberately changed the topic as an excuse to ban me.

Yes, "naturally". Wow you're deluded... Oh and you weren't banned for posting in Irish, you were banned for arguing with a moderator and being off topic. I know you like to think you were banned for posting in Irish so that you can rant about how Irish society is so dismissive of the language but sorry, you weren't actually banned for it.

Yeah you just ban them cause you cant handle a rational arguement.
Calling someone a cocksucker is a rational argument?
I wouldn't say we are outnumbered.Yee just keep posting repeatedly.
    Who exactly is we?
I was banned for speaking Irish. The mod deliberately changed the topic as an excuse to ban me.
    Just plain wrong.

    You mean the banned rereges?
I never lied once.It was the mod who brought the conversation off topic, not me.
Moderators instructions are instructions, not suggestions. They are not meant to have anything to do with the topic.

what part of "If I'm typing in bold, it means you have been." did you not understand?

When are you going to cop on that a mod telling you to behave isn't posting OT, it's moderating. Exactly how is a person expected to moderate if their post has to be "on topic"?

Any chance of a reply to my earlier question?

No spin was put on anything. You questioned a mod's decision and got banned for it. As a matter of interest, exactly why did you feel the need to post in Irish in a PI thread? It's not like you're unable to converse in English, the language of the thread you posted in. Was it simply to provoke a response like you've got so you can push a few buttons and complain about Irish speakers being persecuted, or was there some other agenda?

When I first read your post I thought it was a joke.
Then perhaps you don't understand the definition of the word joke.

    I'd like to know how.

Oh, I'm sorry, I meant "send me a link" in the same derisive dismissive tone as "Here's 20c, call someone who gives a ****"

    No. It was you.
    The mod posted a warning.
You decided to continue, on the thread.
    You posted off topic.

I'm not even going to comment on your other futile personal comments.
I don't think you know what futile means.
I think you're using it for the same reason you speak Irish.
To seem smarter than you are.
Admit it, you have an inferiority complex.

I never said the inability to speak Irish makes you anti-republican.
The fact that you put down the Irish language(i.e our badge of nationhood),by definition makes you anti republican.
Nobody put down Irish at all - you'd love it if they did, but unfortunately your wish hasn't come true. I accept that English is this country's first language, I'm also glad that Irish is being kept alive. And I have republican leanings.

No you wouldn't. If you repeatedly spoke Polish or Latin after being asked not to do so, then you'd be banned.
Or you'd be banned if you spoke Polish or Latin and then, when asked to do stop since it was Personal Issues and not everyone could understand you, you went on an off-topic rant against the moderator.

I think ye have lost this one.
Lost what? Tell me, are you a bit slow or something? Or maybe you have a severe mental illness?
At this stage. All it is is mods sticking together to try and beat me down.
Registered users seem to have different opinions to the mods
No seriously, do you suffer from paranoid delusions?
Come on,some of your users are so disgraced with your behaviour that they are going to the radio. . . You do realise that in the real world the majority of people are against your oppresive natures.
    Irrational thoughts?
I am absolutely sick of gombeens like yourselves thinking ye are above the Irish languge. You have tried to put a spin on it to make me look guilty but ye are completeley in the wrong.
    Narcissism maybe?

If someone posts as Gaeilge it's really not that big a deal, in fact I'd welcome it. Nice to see some people still take an interest in it.
Fair enough on PI but for all other forums I really don't see how it's a massive problem for someone to post as Gaeilge.
It's a bit pointless though - just to post in another language for the sake of it when everyone else is conversing in a different one. What purpose would it serve other than to say "Hey everyone, I can speak Irish"? Or "I'm gonna use this opportunity to start a debate on Irish, this country's 'first language', not being spoken enough" - i.e. what the OP was doing on PI.

banning was a joke imo.The mod should have been prepared for a reply to the post.
The reply was not abusive or offensive,so the banning for the reply was ridiculous.
Sigh. It wasn't the post in Irish, it was the way the poster got stroppy and argumentative and off-topic.
    GA361 wrote: »
I agree with you 100per cent
Yeah we know. You don't have to say it. We hardly think you disagree with someone who's agreeing with you.

You clearly just did it to start a debate on the speaking of Irish - you could have randomly picked any other thread but you settled on that one. Bad idea, Personal Issues is heavily moderated (and rightly so). The banning wouldn't have been so swift if you had done so on an After Hours thread - we would have let you rant and rave for a while about the injustice of it before banning you.
I mean, you say "naturally" you spoke in your first language. However it wasn't natural, which you well know. It was completely derailing the thread.

Just want to say that I hope the OP hasn't started people thinking that all Irish speakers are complete tools. I like to think I'm relatively normal!

Personally I think it's obnoxious to reply to someone in a language other than the language they originally posted in, particularly in PI, where people actually look for help.

But then to go off on a rant because people don't appreciate you posting in Irish in response to an English question and THEN go off on a rant about how you were banned for speaking Irish which you weren't? Stupidity imo.

If you think that is so obnoxious, why did you reply to a previous thread in English, even though I wrote the original post in Irish?

Tbh Pearse was a wanker and you seem like a bit of one too... So I stand by the mods on this one. Also, take it to feedback ;)

Coming from someone that lives in Rouen that's a little rich. What basis do you have for calling Pearse a wanker? I would really like to know how you arrived at that conclusion.
Anyway on topic, not everyone here speaks fluent Irish, however I was able to make out the general gist of what you were saying, I think it's the fact that you started arguing with a mod that got you banned not the fact that you posted in Irish. If the OP had been in Irish fair enough but it wasn't, the OP could have been Polish or a non native so it would be more polite to put your post in English rather than as gaeilge.
