I fail to see the logic in this. You want farmers to pay more tax for their fuel, the cost of which will be ultimately passed to the consumer in higher food prices?

The only one that would benefit would be the government (who you say is already crippling us) through higher fuel tax and higher VAT takes, the rest of us, as usual, would have to foot the bill.

I totally support the action. Truckers, and fishermen, are facing serious hardship. The price of a barrel of oil is huge at the moment and there is little we or the Gov can do about that. But tax on fuel right across the EU is massive and some of this could be cut to ensure the survival of the industry. I'm normally not one for such socialist measures but I think it is warranted in this case. I'd be glad to see the truckers protest, motorists are screwed left, right and center in this country for a poor service and infrasturcture and its time we stood up and let our feelings be known.
