Buzzing sound from downlighters

My downlights in the kitchen do not come on when switched on. When they do come on they emit a buzzing sound. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Sounds like a connection to the light to me .

more than likely it is the transformers that are buzzing and on there way out,replacement transformers are not that expensive
