Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

reclaiming vat on imported campers?

    can anyone tell me, how i can claim back vat on a camper that was bought abroad?

    ie, advertisements say: vat can be claimed back @ 19% etc

    is that vat reclaimed in ireland???

    Have you bought the van already?
    If not, ask the seller how it is done.

    Hl joyce2008,I looked into this when I was thinking of buying from Germany,as far I could get the info out of the obnoxious,gum chewing ,no please or thankyou,snotty little civil servant in the revenue office,it works like so:-


    you buy your van abroad,pay local vat

    import to Ireland,pay vrt plus Irish vat

    claim back vat from country bought from.......

    most complex and costly ,thats one reason i didn't buy new in the end.


    Hopefully someones who's actually done it may be able to give exact details..good luck

    What country were you thinking of buying the van in?
