Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How does everyone feel about SNAs having course days?

Hi everyone. In a staff meeting in our school recently the topic of SNAs not having course days came up. A lot of the SNAs were willing to do courses if they could be granted course days like the teachers. I know a lot of the courses available during the summer are specifically for teachers but there aree some options and courses available for SNA to do. The principal asked for all staff (teachers and SNAS) that agreed with SNAs having course days to write to both Impact (SNA Trade Union) and the Department of Education and to post them in over the next few weeks on our own time. I was wondering if anyone here would mind doing the same as it would raise a much neglected issue? Yes SNAs can take time off for funeral and weddings to relatives who are immediate family but sometimes it would be nice just to have a long weekend away. I know a lot of people will say time can be given off at the principals discretion but I (and I'm sure a lot of other people) would prefer to do it on the up & up. Anyway the addresses to write to are:

    IMPACT,
    NERNEY’S COURT,
    DUBLIN 1.

The email address for the Minister of Education is: minister_okeeffe@education.gov.ie

    Department of Education & Science
    North Eastern Regional Office
    7 Trimgate Street,
    Navan,
    Co. Meath

I think if all three received correspondence on this over the next few months at least the matter might be looked at. Thanks in advance.
