Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Got a Solicitors letter / debt collection for ISP . Advise please.

    The following situation is hypothetical of course.

    "A couple of years ago I had an Internet connection from an Irish ISP.
    The contract was for 12 months, I paid for 12 months and then continued to pay and use the service for another 4 months, but then decided to move house. I phoned them and told them I wanted to cancel the contract.
    The person at the other side seemed to understand, the conversation was short and factual.
    About three months later I got a phone call from them wondering why I hadn't paid my bill. I told them I had asked for the service to be canceled. I distinctly remember this person saying that was ok , and he would follow up on it.
    At this stage I had moved apartment so any mail that went to my previous address was unavailable to me.
    About a year passed, and suddenly I get a phone call from a debt collection agency , and a solicitors letter requiring me to pay around 1000 euros...
    I'm seriously lacking any written proof that I canceled my connection, which I should have done."

    In the above situation, what should one do?

    I take it you have the telephone records?

    [Edit] You possibly should engage a solicitor on this, seeing as either the amounts are owing or there has been a grave error.
