Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why? Do you mean cos of lag or something? It was the same as the singleplayer otherwise

I thought personally that R6V2 was the biggest let down of the year. Way over priced and over hyped.

Yeah, lag – I had loads of it on R6V. While others games run fine online.

so anyway, whats your favourite weapon so far in Bad Company? Mines either thr 50cal sniper or the standard Assault rifle.! The snipers laser tracking missile is deadly aswell!

Really enjoying this so ar, in sp. Havent touched on mp. but it really is great in sp, the free form nature of it and the fact that you, and the enemy, really have nowhere to hide is great. Blowing down a wall to expose enemies inside a house is jsut great, using the arty strikes too is brilliant. I just wish you could carry more than one gun. Definitely beats cod4 sp so far anyway. In fact it takes a massive steamy **** on cod 4's sp.

Really enjoying the MP now even though i'm still only playing the demo. I'm pretty consistently in the top 4 points between both teams, something that i rarely manage in COD4! Must be all the real players have bought the game already :pac:
Tank + support class is my favourite combo.

How long does the SP mode last guys? Thinking of picking this up (can't do MP cause no broadband at moment) and was hoping to get some value out of it!

I got to say, for me every FPS since cod 4 has been a let down for me. I used to love Rainbow 6 I, but since I got COD4, nothing compares to it for me.

I am mainly talking about online, as thats the mode I like to play in games,

I do really like Battlefield, and will keep playing it. what I like most about is that when your finished playing it. its very easy to go back to COD4 because the buttons are similar

sorry but my idea of a good sp game is not scripted sequences, respawning enemies, choke points and lack of freedom.

After finishing the SP last nite and around level 11 (i think i am) in the MP, heres my verdict.

    Pros SP
--Destructible enviroments (should be a must nowadays)
--Story wasnt as cheesy or american fratboy as i thought it would be.
    --Nice wide open levels.
    --Vehicles, airstrikes, special weapons etc.
--Knifing is alot more realistic than COD4 version. No more leaping halfway across the map to knife someone

    Pros MP
    --Online perk/leveling system
    --Collecting dogtags :D
    --Nice variety in the maps
    --Nice variety in the weaponry
    --Party Play.
--Not laggy at all (from my experience)

    Cons SP
--Far too easy (even on the harder difficulties)
--No punishment at all for dying (kinda like how Bioshock was)
--You can only carry one main weapon.
--That STUPID 5 second countdown if you go in the red zone can be very harsh (one of my main cons)

    Cons MP
--Only one gamemode although I heard Conquest has been certified and should be added soon
--Games can drag on for a bit too long for my liking
    --The Humvee Glitch boosting thing.
    --Helicopter VS Human

Verdict -- Good Game with a good online community. Good replay value and would be a good buy especially to play during this brilliant  weather we are getting.

    Nice summery FreeOSCAR.

    Questions;

    1. What is the tracer gun for?

    and

    2. What is the quickest way of unlocking the main items for the different classes? (the ones that appear in the kit description page). Do I have to do stuff in the SP game?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,416 ✭✭✭FreeOSCAR

Question 1 about the Tracer Gun Im unsure but as far as im aware they guns you unlock in the SP game are only collectibles and dont count towards the MP aspect. The quickest way to level up and therefore get credits to unlock guns etc are either

    (a) --- Be a medic, go around healing your teamates on the battlefield
    (b) --- Be a repair man, go around repairing your squads vehicles (not the boosting way)

Someone else probably knows alot more about all the MP guns than me though.

Or kill people, that works too.

i believe the tracer gun can be shot at people/tanks and they are highlighted for the team until they die. Im not quite sure though.

Oh yeh i forgot about killing people.....

You get way more points quickly doing the latter.

Tracer gun is great if your playing with a friend, get him to be specialist and you be demolition, if he hits a tank with the tracer it comes up on your screen and if you point the rocket launch at the marker it will act as a homing becon so you shoot around buildings!!

Bought the game yesterday evening. (€69 in Game on Dawson St, €59 for Gold Edition in HMV on Grafton St - bought that one) Played a bit of the single player. not impressed at all with the AI of the other 3 squad members. It is a much better attempt at a single player game than the effort for BF2(pc). Enjoying the new maps, cant wait for conquest mode! better be free to dl though...

Theres a good few more maps.. I think 6 thinking off my head..

Conquest mode is what started off the battlefield games on the pc im not sure it was in vietnam and 1942.. but it was in BF2 and its a great game mode. Its bascially capture the flag around the whole map.

Does anyone here on boards actually play this? I dont think alot of people do?

I've never played any other battlefield game, but it sounds like the "war" game mode from CoD3. Which I loved!!

I played quite a bit on line when I got it but ended up hating it,seemed no matter what I did I couldnt hit anyone despite unloading full clips on them.Tried it again the other day and its seems to have improved.Did they sort out lag issues or something?
