Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

this is the worst game i've seen in this tournament so far. (I missed the France Romania game).

ah it's not that bad. it's an unbelievably good defensive display from some damn average Italian players. Chiellini's been something of a revelation tbh.

    Lol finally some excitement!

    Viva Espana

Atmosphere a bit muted in the stadium

Italians have offered nothing going forward really - so expect a Toni header in the 88th min to win it for them.

That's one of the strangest dives I've ever seen. There wasn't even any tackling him when he went over.

How was that a yellow for Villa? He lost his footing and never looked for the peno. Over reaction from the ref.

    That's what I thought.

I agree about the card for Villa

I also think the ref has had a poor game.

I think one of the peno shouts in the first half was outside the area, Torres def got his shirt pulled for one (so a penalty but harsh) and the other I want to see again.

Has got a fair few of the smaller decisions wrong as well.

this ref thinks hes the cheese. stupid card to give. have a feeling he is going to do something stupid to decide the game.

I am not a huge fan of fabregas but if there is to be a goal from play then I would say that he will be involved.

    Lucky Italians

Defensive display? Who wants to watch that?

    Goals please.

Oooooh from Senna - he sure does like to hit them

Best keeper in the world - yer havin a laff

What a superb defensive touch there from Tony to keep it away from Grosso

Game has opened up a bit now

    Spain to score in extra-time??

    torres off :(

    Ooooh off goes Torres. Controversial

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

oK TIS Offical - as well as being racist Arragones is a fool

If you watch Torres you know that even in games where he is quiet, he can well pop up and score a goal out of nothing - replacing him with that joke is a joke

    MADNESS I SAYS MADNESS

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Gotta ask - would Torres have handled like Quiffer did there? NFW

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,677 ✭✭✭staker

jeez don't anyone WANT to score??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,685 ✭✭✭Tom65

Now now, remember Torres came off for Babel in Champions League quarter final? If that taught us anything, it's that Guiza will score and Spain will lose.

Italy are an awful to team to watch

Italy are playing with what they've got. Magnificent in defence. They have no creativity in midfield bar Pirlo.

    Penalties ahoy.

    Babel>>>Quiffer

The fact that Torres was injured negates your Babel replacement suggestion

    Also Babel>>>Quiffer

True enough, but headless chicken > Babel

was that nice footwork from Luca Toni i just witnessed?

At least he had an excuse that night for being shite
    Babel>>>Quiffer

    Seen 'Quiffer' much?

    Not true at all

Also Eamonn Labels Fabregas a donkey:D:D:D

    Immediate retraction though

I don't think Giles rates Luca Tony

If I am not mistakn Guiza was the Pechichi this season in La Liga. Hardly a joke.

Just because a player plays in the Premiership does not make him immune from being subbed.

whatever about fabregas not starting, torres off is a big boo boo imo

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Well Cesc Fabregas did more than Xavi did. Torres off makes little sense Villa was less industrious and looked more likely to do something stupid.

    Mike.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭ironingbored

Giles is saying Fabregas is the best midfielder in the world.

    Ehh...Kaka', Messi, Deco, Pirlo????

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 41,926 ✭✭✭✭_blank_

Villa looked more likely to score, imo.

    Torres was anonymous.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

I may have over-reacted (mainly as this has dashed my football fantasy hopes) - still think Torres should be on

Also I'm a Liverpool fan so I might be slightly biased

    Ehh...Kaka', Messi, Deco, Pirlo????

Fab has had a better season than all of them. and Messi is a winger and Kaka more a forward anyway.

    torres>>>>>>>>Villa in this match.

and i aint biased at all. just tell it like it is.

In fairness to Chellini he's been immense for the Eye-ties

    Babel>>>Quiffer

are you referring to guiza there, a chap who ended up top scorer in the spanish league last year, with no penalties

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,046 ✭✭✭eZe^

    Babel>>>Quiffer

Babel has scored 27 goals in a season with a team that finished 7th over all in the table? Aragones is perfectly justified in bringing on Guiza, Spain needed something different, so he brought on Cesc and Guiza, and they have both already made an impact, while Xavi, Torres and Iniesta have been very disappointing... Just because you love Torres and know absolutely nothing about 'Quiffer' doesn't make him infallible to subsitution in the real world....

Btw- Iker Casillas is some amazing keeper...

Trivia fact - the Spaniards have gone out of three major tournaments on 22 June, in quarter-finals, on penalties. Yikes.:eek:
