Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Chiellini has been superb. Italy remind me of Mohammed Ali vs. Foreman. take the punishment and frustrate the opponent and then boom!

Agreed, is he only 23 iswell? Looks to be some player in the future.

Really thought this would be an open game. Appears Italy had penos in mind from the first minute. Amazing they have got it this far but maybe that is more reflective on the impotence of the Spanish attack......

As for my prediction for a penalty!!! Crazy reffing...

I am shouting for Italy for personal reasons but I won't deny Spain deserve to win. But I suppose you play with what you've got.

He's already a damned good player.

    He's a fullback though.

He could be like Kaladze though, turned into a CB as he grows older.

I really love watching Fabregas play football. It's just amazing. IMO he is the best central midfield in the world, and that includes Xavi and Pirlo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭ironingbored

Del Piero to get the winner!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

Italy are playing with what they've got. Magnificent in defence. They have no creativity in midfield bar Pirlo.

Greece were called a disgace to football for winning the last time by playing to their strengths and being defensive.

Why does RTE's main commentator (Maloney?) pronounce Villa as Viiia but Capdevila he says like (Aston) Villa? More t the point, why am I watching RTE?

Theres been plenty on here over the lat 4 years saying they were the ruination of football and saying they didnt deserve it.

Yeah, what I meant is that he shouldnt be pronouncign the "L" in Capdevila.

They need to stop putting the ball out for injuries. Thats 5 or 6 in the game where good attacks are stopped because of faking injuries.

Come on Spain, just nick one late. Between Grosso, Materazzi and Camoranesi I fuckin hate Italy.

Both sides look shagged. Particularly Spain. They could've had a good counter attack there and they just slowed down completely.

Italy are everything I hate in football, I nearly hope they win cos at least they have a plan.

    Mike.

Is Arragones actually racist, or did he just say ******?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

I presume you hold the racist Aragones in high esteem?

Maybe you should make less presumptions

Grosso cheated Australia out of the last World Cup, Materazzi is a notorious dirtbag and Camoranesi is an annoying little overrated diver.

    Here's your answer:
Trying to be clever with his Spanish pronunciations, he got David Villa right by interpreting the double L as a Y sound, but then got a bit too cocky and started referring to the left-back as ‘Capdeviya’. Unfortunately, the one-L’ed Capdevila is pronounced as it reads. Nice try, though.

Fair play. Either way, RTE must have a laptop in the commenators box ecause as I said it the first time he reverted to Capdeviya. :D
