Amazingly this is (relatively) common as dramatic crashes go and they often come out of it OK.

Saw this last night. It was very shocking. When I saw the drop behind the barrier I was sure he'd be seriously injured. Couldn't help but thinking about Roger Rivière. He's a lucky guy.

Don't know what the hell happened though. He had his foot down very early, like he decided from wawy out that he wouldn't make the corner.
