Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My wife is not much of gamer, but she really did like the Broken Sword series.

What games are available for the original xbox that are of the same genre?
I saw there was a CSI game or is that for the 360?

Fahrenheit is excellent on the Xbox, a great adventure, as is Morrowind and Dreamfall, 3 non traditional games, massive in size and not a Space Marine in sight!

Thanks CiDeRmAn, I'll look out for those.

    Anyone else have any suggestions?

There is a CSI game for the Xbox also. I had it and it was great fun. 10 cases in it and each one takes a while to complete. Unfortunately I sold mine a while back but you should pick up a copy on ebay for cheap.

I still play the original xbox a lot, even though I have a 360 too.

Recommendations for a Broken Sword fan would be:

-Project Zero ( Scary puzzle game - modern day oriental horror )

-Fable ( Creative role playing game - game revolves around player decisions )

Beyond Good and Evil. One of the finest, most under appreciated games ever.

    + 1 for KOTOR (esp no. 1)
Fahrenheit v good, but goes downhill before the 3rd act.

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys.

Are these all in the same vein as Broken Sword?

Points to take into consideration are...

    1. No killing :D
    2. Present day ish.

It is for a women. ;)

This is the only game for your wife.
It features a female lead and its very character orientated. Its the same sort of format as broken sword. Less game more interactive adventure.
    Dreamfall: Longest Journey

    It looks excellent as well.

Thanks for the links Climate Expert. I have just shown her the first clip and she said YES after about 50 seconds. :D

Ciderman had already suggested it so it was on the list.

+1 on dreamfall. havn't played through it yet myself but enjoying the longest journey atm (first game in the series) and the sequel seems very good from the little i played.

The xbox isn't a great platform for those type of games though. There's so many great point and click/adventure games from the '90s on PC which would run on pretty much any computer post 2000 (bar some XP problems with some games) which would be easily recommended (monkey island series, sam n max, dott, lba 1/2, indy and the fate of atlantis, the dig, the longest journey and loads more)

Was MI4 on the the Xbox?

Was MI4 on the the Xbox?

Only on PC and PS2, but its easily the worst in the series. i didn't think it was too bad but its slammed by many fans as being just a quick cash in. MI2 or MI3 are the best imo. I'd prolly lean slightly toward MI3 purely for the voice acting and all the art looked and still does look fantastic

Ordered a copy of CSI off Ebay last week. It arrived this morning.
    She loves it. :)

CSI is going great lads. Good suggestion. Wife has done half of it already.

    This DREAMFALL.
How many are there in the series? I was doing a search and found others ..

    Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
    Sequel Funcom's The Longest Journey
    Dreamfall Chapters was announced

    Are they all related?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,393 ✭✭✭Climate Expert

Yes. The longest Journey was the first one and pc only.
Dreamfall the second. Chapters has only been announced but nothing yet gameplay wise.

Dreamfall is available on the 360 as a download in the states and should be coming here in the next few weeks.

    So far so good lads!

My wife finished CSI a couple of days ago and gave it 8/10. :)
I got hold of Fahrenheit today so she'll be having a go at that next.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. :)

    Wife finished Fahrenheit today.

She gave it an amazing 10/10
    It did seem good though.

Will have to see what I can get next.

Well Fable was next to be tested.

It crashed and burned after about 15 minutes. Too much swords and killing.
I have just finished it though. :D
Was a bit quick, but quite good.

Searching for the next one now, what ever that will be?

How long did you get out of the main story in Fable?

Well if you ever stumble across a couple of copies of Morrowind, let me know! Still on the lookout for a reasonably priced GOTY version of it! :)

Sorry it took me so long to reply.
Wife only tried it for a couple of days. I carried on and finished it after.

She has just finished Dreamfall, I got it for her as a Christmas pressie. She said she enjoyed that and gave it 8/10.

Now the hunt for the next game begins. :)
