Thread bump means most of the posts are quite out of date.

I have an original palm pre that's nearly two years old.
I was going to upgrade, but instead bought an extra thick battery.

My phone can now last nearly a week on a charge. So glad I didn't upgrade.

I got a new 3 phone this week. My previous phone was a Nokia 1600. I think the guy at 3 was pretty shocked when I told him. I think I got it in 2002:D:D Have never had a problem with it in all those years and only got the new one as I like the 3 deal.

My new phone is scary. Still learning how to use the damn thing.

My phone's 3 years old but I have to get a new one soon, the space button stops working randomly and people keep getting.messages.like.this.from.me.

I can't stand touch screens or any sort of fancy high tech phone, I'm quite happy if my phone texts, calls and takes decent pictures, and if it has a Music Player then that's a plus too. I don't want flip phone or a slide phone either, just a plain old block of a phone'll do me.

I've had 3 phones, the first one I had for 5 years, the next one for a year, and the one I have now. The one that only lasted a year was a flip phone, and the flip bit broke off so I had no screen.

have had my current phone since november 2004 and no plans to change it unless it blows up or gets lost.

i had gone through at least 5 handsets in the 2 years previous to getting my current model so i am a bit wary of stupid malfunctioning phones

that was june 2008 when i wrote that and nearly 3.5 years later i STILL have the same phone, just over a month now shy of 7 years, battery is pretty much f**ked on her now

I have my Nokia E51 bout 3 years now, still going perfectly. I'll probably trade up to a smart phone in the coming months.

I've had mine for nearly two years, the Samsung Tocco Lite - yes the one every has. It's built like a brick! Never broke on me, despite multiple flinging it across the rooms, dropping in the the dogs water bowl, falling out of my bag and skidding across the road, etc. The only concession that it's getting old is that I've had to duc-tape the back cover onto it!
It's a touch screen which I kinda hate but hey, it gets the job done and I don't want for another phone, much better things to be buying with a hundred quid.

I've had my current phone for two years now, it's a slide QWERTY pad but the screws keep coming lose so I'll probably just buy the cheapest one in meteor soon!

My favourite phone ever was the Motorola ROKR E8 but it got stolen by some scumbag that crashed a party at. It really was the best phone ever :(

Mine is 17 in phone years, which work differently from human years.

My 5-y-o HTC S620 has finally given up the ghost in the last week. I hadn't been using it much over the last year, since most of its functions were taken over by an iPod Touch. I managed to lose that, so I brought the S620 back out, but it's been unreliable. I replaced the battery recently, but it still dies almost every time I use the WiFi, so I think it's a goner. I have an old Nokia 6120 (about 10-y-o) that a former flatmate left me, which I unlocked, but this year I got a cheap unlocked flip handset, an Alcatel OT-S319. It doesn't do much, but it's a good basic phone with a battery life of about two weeks.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Oh, forgot to say, mine's a Sony Ericsson K770i.

My current phone is a n95 which I bought from new so I had it for about 4 years now. The back is held on with electrical tape so I'm due a change fairly soon. The battery is really shocking on it so much so that I have been caught out by it so many times. I think i'll get an oldschool nokia with a big ass battery life after this one.

About seven or eight years. It's beginning to disintegrate now though, so I suppose I'll have to get a new one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,349 ✭✭✭✭starlit

    It's two years old.

18 months old today, as it happens.

Mine was an anniversary present from le boyfriend last year, so it's... 11 months old now?
    It's a Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, and it's lovely.
In the year prior to getting the Xperia, I had, I think, three other phones, none of which would stand up to the abuse I put them through. The X8 is actually surprisingly durable, and has managed to withstand multiple drops, falls and thumps without any major damage, just little dents in the corners.
    Good choice, boyfriend!

I've had mine since July 2004 , a Nokia 6610i. It's beginning to act up though - very distressed at the idea of having to eventually replace it :(

I've a battered one of these. All the balck is worn from the front and I got bored one day and chewed the aerial off. It's 6 years old and has never let me down so why would I change it?

I've had my 6310i since 2002! Still going strong. Wouldn't be without it. Have bought spares off ebay just in case it should ever fail me...

I've a Nokia N70, which is 4 years and 2 months old now. Though I must say I've been through about a dozen of those "skinny" Nokia chargers at this stage, their lifespan is very poor.

    2 years this xmas

It is exactly a year since I resurrected this thread, and I still have the same phone. So that makes it 9 years old today. :) It is still going strong too. I won't be rushing out to buy an iPhone5. My Nokia 3510i does me fine and has lasted longer than any fancy phone I know of.

About 2 years old now. Will keep using it till it breaks then buy the shiniest, fanciest piece of **** going.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,195 ✭✭✭Corruptedmorals

6 months. I intend to keep it until it dies outside of warranty, I love it. It is my 6th phone in 11 years, average lifespan of each is 2 years..think that's a very good record really.

My Nokia 6700 is just over 2 years old now and still going strong, with saying that it did survive so many falls. xD

Nearly two years. Got it for new York. I really hate getting new phones.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,349 ✭✭✭✭starlit

Mine is currently exactly three years old! Might trade in for a new one at some point but happy as it is. It not flashy does the job and simple has most of the features I need and want!

A Samsung B2100 for over 3 years, I can't see it ever breaking and have felt no urge to get anything fancy as of yet.

My phone is only 3 hours old. My old one of 2.5 years took one drop too many yesterday and gave up on the hardship if faced. My kids used my upgrade allowance recently, so I had to fork out €60 for a bog standard Nokia. Does the job

Mines an iphone 3Gs. Probably 3yrs old. Got it 2nd hand off my sis...

3 year old one that cost about fiddy. Basic, doesn't have a camera.

I have mine nearly 2 years...HTC desire...I love it, but the major draw back is lack of memory. I see people with their 16gb iPhones and what have you and look at me desperately trying to move as much as possible on to my SD card and I still constantly have the no memory left symbol flashing at me

Haha not that much, but very close.

Worse thing was she dropped it into the toilet on her 4th birthday, so I couldn't be too angry( had to keep going away for a little cry to myself)

Worser thing that happened was an hour after it happened and the phone was dead as a dodo the postman delivered my lovely new glittery phone cover I had ordered online !!

Lucky my house insurance covered it, and the glittery cover is now snug on my new phone :)

had 4 iphones at this stage, lost another one last week. im on a 30 euro nokia yoke now that looks like a toy phone....its NICE to go a week without charging a phone!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

Just over 3 years, only seeing a phone now that I would gladly replace it with. Only issue is it costs over 400 yoyo without a contract.

This has been after usally changing my phone every year.
