    Hi all,
I would like to find out how I could get an sms number that people could text and the texts would be received by my computer. There will only be small amounts of texts coming through.
Any help would be much appreciated!

I just found another post. I looked through most of the websites and this looked like it made the most sense for what i'm planning to do. I think it costs about 6.5 cent per text message I get but have emailed them to confirm.

By the looks of that page you must send a message before you can receive one via a reply. I'm sure you can hook up a phone using a data cable and either find or create software to interface and collect to messages received. Then you can provide a phone number to people unlike the link you posted (afaik)

Webtext are excellent so ring them first and see what they can do for you. If they cant help remember that a 3 or vodafone data card via usb will also receive texts. 3 will cost you 20 wuro a month. Though not as reliable as a web based sevice it may be an option

Anyone know if any of the Irish networks allow access to their services through Outlook's OMA, as per linky:

It appears as though there is an API to interface...could be handy for plugging into from Outlook...
