I downloaded this recently, i know this is a Disco classic but i assumed this was a recent remix, i was astounted to find out this was actually a 1993 remix of this classic tune,i thought i knew most tunes from back in the day but every time im amazed to uncover gems like this,im absolutely loving this tune,Disco House at it's very finest, in fact i played it at the Smithfield Factory party last Saturday nite and it got a serious reaction, it brought the house down big style, so much that i played it again towards the end of my set, what a tune.

not meaning to sound harsh but is that really your favourite song at the moment.
if you like sister sledge, get the grant nelson remix of sister sledge-thinking bout you.
it was on the back of his jill scott- gloden remix.its floating around though.
there was a million lost in music remixes(some of them alot better than that imo)id opt for the original if i was forced to play it out:o

Several years old now but with a new lease of life recently... I am currently obsessed with Basic Channel and the many new amazing releases in the world of Dub Techno, especially from the likes of Deep Chord and the label Modern Love. Some Basic Channel tunes...

Some of the Dub/Reggae side to Basic Channel from Rhythm & Sound...

And of the more full-on techno variety (one of my all time favourites that I can't get enough of again) -

no it really does, liam said it himself. 'this was the prodigy at its peek'

    to quote that interview

Q..... A six year hiatus, why?

A..... Well it wasn't a conscious decision or a plan, really; it just happened. We knew there would be downtime after The Fat of the Land - we felt we had reached the pinnacle of what Prodigy was, and I myself had my mind set on taking a couple of years off. And then time just flew by, know what I mean?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 224 ✭✭The G Child

I agree with Jonny68 on this. For what it was at the time, The Prodigy Experience is way ahead of Fat of the Land, but each to their own I suppose.

  • Subscribers Posts: 8,322 ✭✭✭Scubadevils

Yeah I found Fat Of The Land to be kinda, ehm... can't really remember it so didn't leave much of an impression! Whereas the first two are another story :pac:

Another track I'm loving again at the moment is from Ultramarine called 'Hooter' - the Carl Craig Remix. Fantastic track.

I just picked up also the amazing album by 2526 the other day called 'Aerial' - excellent stuff. Frequent plays at the moment... Check it :pac:

    Right now would be either:
    Boys Noize - Frau
    or
    Chris Lake & Deadmau5 - I Thought Inside Out

Two crackers tunes that get me going every time :)

I flogged the above record to a guy called deco ,had a small shop downstairs under a girls clothes shop at central bank. He was bringing in tunes from the states that no one else was getting ,way out west mixes that weren't even on the radio.

I regret letting go of the basic channel ,it was near impossible to get at the time about 94.

Its excellent stuff, groundbreaking really in terms of that style of techno when it happened. All easy enough to get now anyway as they have been repressed a couple of times since and are available direct from Hard Wax (who are Basic Channel) -

I'm not aware of any connection anyway between them, Basic Channel are a German duo - one of which is actually playing at the DEAF Festival in October.

Never read that before that Von Oswald was involved in 'Jazz Is The Teacher', feckin amazing tune!

Also 'Deep Space' by Model 500, I forgot one half of Basic Channel was involved in that too... you'd never know it though by the sound, its completely different to what Basic Channel do together, although he was just the engineer for some tunes according to discogs...

That album has been reissued recently, highly recommend if you don't have already...

keen ear, although keiths older stuff is fantastic, its unrefined and rough. fat of the land is very refined, and the tracks dont just jump up outta nowhere they build up and peek.

listen to narayan great track, diesel power - that track is one of my fav, hip hop meets big beat ****ing fantastic and lyrics that blow your mind, drastically, fantastically. smack my bitch up, top 10 best tunes of all time, no question when its played on a good sound system.

theres no doubt fat of the land is heavy and harder hitting, i can see why rave/trance/dance heads dont feel it as much.

and for the person who mentioned deadmau5, he's been banging out the tunes recently. amazing, http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=OiujM6P8jpY

I've been listening to my Fabric albums again recetly and at the moment I'm loving Riton - The Hammer of Thor which is on Tiefshwarz - Fabric 29. Its a quality minimal tune!

When the Prodigy were doing the rave music around "Experience", some of those tunes were brilliant, the likes of Everybody in the Place, Out of Space, Jericho, Hyperspeed, Charlie were brilliant tunes. They started getting a bit heavier with the Jilted Generation, but still keeping some savage dance tunes like No Good (Start the Dance). But my opinion was that the heavier they got, the less inclined I was to listen to them. I liked the rave buzz around their earlier stuff. That's just my opinion.

I also agree about Deadmau5, the chap is on everything at the moment. Some good tunes alright.
