Guy has offered to make some return visits to DCC, so keep an eye out, but knowing his schedule it may be quite short notice (as was this talk)

I have the set of 3 DVD's that I purchased at Photofest 08. They were €60 each there. I have got great value out of them as most of what he said was in the DVD's & you can go over it few times. I have a TV & DVD player set up near the computer so I can refer to it while using PS. The deal that was offered on the night to DCC Members (& visitors) was a very good offer & Guy is sending some more sets over at the same price for Members who missed out on the night.

You won't master his techniques in an hour or anything like it, unless you are a pretty good PS user. It will take much longer than that but is really worth it for ongoing time savings after that.

Regarding sharpening what he said (at the one day we had in DCU ) was the 500% was for printing only and for web display etc would be much lower (maybe 200%). Also remember that he sharpens selectively (ie the trees and not the sky) which makes a huge difference.

What I use after trial and error is 125% on the full size image and a further 125% on the reduced file size at the very end. Rarely have to amend that.

Stick with it Barry, it's worth it, from someone who hasn't quite got there yet.

i plan doing more ps training in September with a freind, as you say i would really need to know more about ps before learning Guys stuff , i think !
Regarding sharpening , i use smart sharpening at radius 1.2 , and amount 35 % , i upped the amount to 70% , and it certainly looked touched up and unreal on screen , might be ok in print ?

    Barry,

While sharpening is an individual thing, 35% / Radius 1.2 is not going to compensate for the basic unsharpness of digital images.

If your just sharpening using the full image and no selective techniques etc I would say 100% and Radius 1 is a good starting point and more for printing.
