A question for the Moderators, would it be possible to set up a thread with a hunting and target shooting clips from youtube. I know the boards are open to the public and what we put up can be viewed by all. But i just thought I might ask any way. Not sure if this has been covered in the past if so i send my apologies.

Go right ahead! Please make sure that if there's anything gory that you warn people ahead of time. Not all the people who look in here are hunters or even shooters, so it's worth warning people.

Anything non-shooting related can be posted in Cool Vids & Pics & Links forum. That forum is pre-moderated to stop people posting porn and stuff, so if you do post there it might take a while to appear.

I see no issue with them as long as they don't break any existing rules. As you say though this forum is very public (think DoJ, gardai etc etc) so even material that we might put up and say "look how stupid this guy is" may be taken out of context and used against us.

So I would urge extra caution when posting vids and especially of yourself. My friend thinks youtube etc are gardai/police traps for stupid people i.e. I'm so stupid I am breaking the law, filming it and then putting it on the internet. Again I urge caution.

clivej posted one the other day about the warrener doing some damage control on a chicken farm in the UK. That was a good little vid, strange to see such unbiased reporting on such a contraversial issue.

I'd say post them in the existing photos threads for now though, and we'll see when the initial surge dies down if they need a seperate thread (my guess would be no though, not until we start filming our matches and posting them to youtube regularly).

You're okay with using the

Not aware of the tags Sparks but saying that I do see the youtube tag as I am writing this. Is it just a matter of hitting the youtube tag when you put a post up ???

Yup, and feed in the id number of the youtube video. So if the clip was (for example) here:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=jsf70AyGbuE

then you would enter jsf70AyGbuE between the youtube tags like so:

And you'd get this:

Can I ask potential video clip posters to bear in mind the PR implications of what they post before posting it?
I'm thinking particularly of the Hunting forum here, but it also applies to Target Shooting.
It's well known to most regular posters here, but it bears repeating: there are usually many more 'guests' viewing the Shooting Forum than 'members'; unfortunately, it has been proven in the past that some 'guests' don't have the best interests of the shooting sports in mind when they visit.

Some explanatory text would be no harm on many video clips: things like confirming the legality of the particular activity in the jurisdiction in which it was videoed (species that are protected here may not be protected elsewhere, etc), and some target shooting disciplines/procedures/techniques are tolerated or encouraged elsewhere that simply don't exist or would lead to a competitor's disqualification here.

Hi all. I posted up a YouTube vid here on the Warener and the BBC News.
To make sure and to be on the safe side of any copyright issues I just posted up the link to the vid at/on the YouTube Website. But it's nice to see that we could/can post the YouTube vids into the Boards page directly VERY good indeed.

Now I only have to learn how to post vids to YouTube.
