    thanks for the links,
    thinking of buying brand new ,exporting to here getting uk vat(17.5%) off then paying irish vrt + tax (21%)and see if i would save any money,get higher spec car as well.has anyone done this before and what the procedure, any thoughts and am i able to do this!
    Bmw 520d 08/09 would be nice!!

    buy a 6month old (Jan 08 to get the cheaper road tax) bmw 520d, must have 6000kms on the clock and avoid paying the irish vat altogether.

    but IMO, and your not worried about the road tax get an older 520d, cheaper and with all the trimmings. the savings in deprication will pay for any increase in road tax over 5 years say.

    You won't save any money - in fact it will cost you.

    pre-tax prices of new cars here is much lower than the UK so your going to screw yourself over.

    buy 6 months old or more to avoid the VAT here and you may be ok.
