Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Worst Games In Existence

-Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (NES)
    -Bad Street Brawler (NES)
    -E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (Atari 2600)
-Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing (PC)
-Revenge of Marjorie The Chicken (PC)
-big red racing (MS DOS) :pac:
    -Club Drive (Jaguar)
-GoldenEye: Rogue Agent (PS2, Xbox, GameCube, DS)
    -The Terminator (Genesis)
-Barkley: Shut Up And Jam! (Genesis)
    -Punky Skunk (playstation)
-Eggs of Steel: Charlie's Eggcellent Adventure (playstation)
    -Irritating Stick (playstation)

In Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, you can be killed by the first enemy that walks up to you, you then wake up as a monster and get struck by lightening followed by 'Game Over'.

I got Revenge of Marjorie The Chicken with 5 quid left on my game card, i wouldn't buy this game for a 5 year old.

I played E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial the other day, The goal of the game is to fall into holes in order to find phone pieces to assemble so that E.T. can return home while being chased by dudes with duvet coats, the graphics look like MS paint on windows 98.

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent was not even a sequel to goldeneye, i remember seeing the adverts on TV which made out that your the evil villain, and you see the rogue agent keying bonds car and blowing up a boat that Bond is on. I actually thought you could build an underground lair and have a shark pool in my room like the way the adverts made it out. Disappointed i was...

The Terminator on the genesis is a joke, you fight a boss at the start of the game with grenades, then right after that, theres a flying thingy dropping bombs with parachutes on you? Then there are endless waves of terminators coming at you, its impossible!

I don't know what it is lately, but I'm on a quest to play the worst games in Existence, for the lol's and for the challenge...anyone know of really bad games? Fill in please...

Oh and 'Greendog' on the Megadrive, worst game I ever bought.

Pelè's Soccer on the Atari 2600 was horrendous. Each team consisted of 3 squares that moved in formation and moved at a snails pace. It sapped my will to live.

    Oh, and I second MGS4.

does mgs4 really have 45 minute cutscenes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,067 ✭✭✭L31mr0d

watch the videos made by the angry video game nerd on gametrailers.com. Some of the games that he plays would make you want to pull your hair out. He made one recently on the indiana jones games which made me so glad I didn't grow up in the 8-bit era of gaming.

30 minutes into the game, you'd feel it's better to watch a good car racing movie instead.

Yes, but don't worry about it. Those are the short ones :D

Surely Webarchitect, you are over generalising a tad there, lumping all car racing games in together as the "Worst Games In Existence", especially given it's only since the Xbox that console racers have any meaningful online modes.

Also, please define "a good car racing movie"?
I mean aside from Gran Prix and Le Mans there haven't been any at all, have there?

And, in spite of myself, I'm rather enjoying the cutscenes thus far in MGS4.

    Worst games in existence.....

Crusin on the Wii, unbelievable tripe, and anything by Data Design Interactive, a developer of budget titles on the Wii, filthy money grabbin' feckers!
Another pile of dung was Thunderforce II, having recently gotten a Meagdrive back in the day and seeing the great reviews of Thunderforces III and IV, I popped along to the nearest drapery shop in Sligo, I kid you not, they had a small toy dept and there they had a small selection of games, and would you believe it, the game sucked, those overhead levels were pants, had to bring it back and plead my case.

And regarding Terminator on the Megadrive, I got caught with that pile of ****e along with many others, problem was that the game was pushed and pushed in the press, tons of screen shots, articles on the "revolutionary" animation system, the audio, developer interviews, really total saturation of the Megadrive mags at the time, then they just held back the review until after the game was in the shops, dirty bastards!

Terminator on the megadrive was bad? Come on it wasn't bad at all although I'd be hard pushed to call it great. As for it being impossible thats rubbish, it was a piece of cake, it only had 4 levels which I remember blitzing through in 3 hours. The last level was crap though.

The worst game ever for me is dark castle on the megadrive. It's one of the reasons Sega wouldn't license cartridges to EA and they had to make their own. They've come along way from being a developer so bad a console giant didn't want their games on it's console to where they are now :)

Turning Point Fall of Liberty is the worst game ive played in the past year. Makes me sick even thinking about it again. :pac:

And MGS4 is overrated, if Kojima had a poo on a plate, people would still lap it up.

Can I add "most of the Star Wars franchise" games? Or if I have to be specific; I remember playing the old "Rebel Assault" games and hating, hating, hating every moment. Cheap, pointless & boring.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 11,017 Mod ✭✭✭✭yoyo

I had the pleasure (not!) of playing hour of victory, Buggy, Broken, Crap and prob one of the worst games I've played. Agreed totally with FreeOSCAR Turning Point is brutal and Blacksite : Area 51 was rubbish too. Lol there is a pattern these few are Unreal Engine 3 "powered" games :D.

No you can't because you'll be forgetting about the X-wing/tie fighter series, the excellent snes platform games, dark forces and jedi knight (and jedi knight 2 although a bit plain wasn't exactly bad) amongst other classics.

Well I did say "most". Yeah there was a clutch of real gems, but quality control took a real downturn at Lucasarts, and the mediocre->bad outweighs the good imo

Are you ser-d-ious? You fight basically a boss at the start of the game, and then a jet yoke dropping bombs left, right and center. Then theres an endless stream of enemy's coming left and right when your underground, you try crouch and throw grenades and the terminators crouch and shoot! All you can do is keep throwing grenades and picking up health...:(

Well yeah. I remember the magazines at the time gave it pretty good reviews with the only negative points being that it was far too short, a breeze to get through and the last level was seriously cheap.

If you thought that game was impossible then don't ever play Contra: Hard Corp. I would probably expload with anger if you blasphem probably the the toughest yet one of the most awesome games in existence.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,283 ✭✭✭Ross_Mahon

-Disney games made for the films
-Football games that nobody's heard of
-Any game thats cheap and says on the back you can customize robots
    -Barbie games on PC
    -Pony games on PC
-FPS games you never heard anything about
-Rally games....need i say more? Colin McRae Rally on playstation, then he dies in a helicopter crash. So i had to play Tommy Mäkkinen Rally...bad idea.
-Space aged sports games that aren't real, i think there was one with a glowing ball and you play as teams of aliens?

Halo3 on the otherhand was hyped up to the Nth degree and was still a rancid mess.

Metal Gear Solid 4: the struggle to stay awake during the boring 45 minute cutscenes.

Oh and 'Greendog' on the Megadrive, worst game I ever bought.

yeah well in MGS4 you can press start and skip the cutscenes if you dont like them! i on the other hand really enjoyed them. They were the best cut scenes ive ever seen in a game real epic stuff. you can hardly constitute how good or bad a game is on its cutscenes since your not even playing the game.

anyway crap games.... vampire rain on the 360, terminator 2 on the snes/megadrive is a load of bollox, time killers on the megadrive is the worst fighting game in exsistence, dr. jekyl and mr. hyde on the nes, the fifth element on the ps1, ninja bread man on the wii (although the box art and concept is cool) there is probly alot more but the effort of thinking of them off my head. :pac:................

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 516 ✭✭✭Danger_Dave

Vampire Rain on the 360 is very Bad. Assassins Creed Spectacular graphics , however they forgot to make a am interesting game.

Rise of the robots on the megadrive, i got that for Xmas !!!! 2 players part , someone has to be the crappy android. Monkey Ball madness on the wii, the older ones are classics but this game is truly awful.

Shadow of the beast on the Sega megadrive. 2 shots from anyone on the map killed you. Seriously i used to try and run to one end of the screen just to see how far i could get, my record was 18 seconds.

Eternal Sonata on the Xbox360 , the game dynamics were really good ,but talk about long boring weird cut scenes/ Story !. Unplayable. +

Yeah I tried skipping them, but then you're playing a completely storyless, plotless game... lost as to where you are, why you're there and what you're supposed to be doing.
Granted, I was similarly lost in old games like Doom and Quake, where you had almost nothing to go on... but skipping the story in MGS games really robs you of the experience... which I'm sure the people who liked the cutscenes will agree.
I know some of the cutscenes in MGS4 are superb and exciting to watch, and I do like to have a storyline to follow... but there doesn't seem to be a happy medium... I either sit yawning through all the boring minutiae or miss the story completely... either experience of the game sucks IMO.
    MGS1 and 2 were fine.
They should have had a setting in the options to enable more brief, edited cutscenes, where you'd still get all the key information, but wouldn't be left twiddling your thumbs for 45 minutes.

There's also the fact that the few gameplay moments that you had, weren't very good anyway. So all in all, it's a fairly ****ty game.
