Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sometimes a Bokeh circle can be found in a bland photo, if you enhance the saturation. Circles of confusion are often hidden in original photos and need a bit of coaxing out of the shadows.

Took that in a Rainforest in Northern Queensland. Nikon D70s with the 70-300mm on it. I think it was at full zoom in quite low light, high ISO & very slow shutter speed (1/30 from memory) hand held. It was one of the first times I had used RAW. I had to crop in quite a lot, so that is why there is a lot of noise.

I guess this Mushroom also qualifies.

It's a very small Mushroom that was growing on a Beach on Lough Dan in Wicklow. It was only about 1" across the top of the cup. It was peeing down with rain & so I quickly laid the Camera on the sand & grabbed the shot. Only say the little aphids when I uploaded later.

    WOW

haha thanks! I kind of cheated though. That dandelion wasn't there in the first place, it was in the grass a few feet away and I thought it would look good in the mix, so I plucked it and put it there myself.:pac:

Are those lensbabies any good? Seem like they might add a bit of something different to pictures but do you use it much?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

They're good fun, they have their uses alright. I haven't taken mine out in well over a month, but I've not been shooting anything that needs them.

If you have a few bob to spare, go for it! :)

Personally, I love it. They give a different viewpoint on "nice" pictures and make them a bit more interesting. Also the selective focus is great for shots that are very detailed or busy where you might want to draw something out of the shot in a different way (like this). Not withstanding the beautiful bokeh you get from it.

As to how often I'd use it, it depends on what you're shooting really. You have to play around with it a bit to focus each time and to change the aperture rings you have to lift them out manually and replace them so not so good when you're on the go but if you're playing around its great.

Some people dont like the whole selective focus effect you get from it; as I said, I love it and I'd highly recommend it if you like the kind of shots you get with it.
