    Hi All,

Im a newbie here, currently doing some research for a tattoo on my foot. My feet are very significant to me as I trained as a dancer, also I have a tendancy to be ratty in the morning so Im hoping looking down at a beautiful tatt every morning in the shower will set me up for the day! :)

I love really vibrant colours like purple, pink, yellow and orange. I really like the new school style. I would like the piece to cover the front of my right foot.

I have a few piercings but this will be my first tattoo, so I'm not sure where to go! I'm in Dublin, can someone recommend an artist who would be suitable for a piece like this? I'm assuming different artists have different styles they like to specialise in. I have a rough concept in my head but would be willing to let a good artist who *got* what I was looking for just do their thing.

    Thanks for your help!

    Claire

Yay for people being informative stating what type of ink they are looking for!!! :D

Colour works in templebar, one of the guys in zulu is quite talented for new skool stuff and possibly jani in stephens green (wildcat). Have a pop around to those guys, see some portfolios, get a feel for the places then pick, and then post pics of new ink! :D

I'm in such a happy mood now :D
    What a first post! YAY!

Its turned out really well even if I do say so myself :D

Thanks for that Wilburt, I'll check them out. Are artists generally ok with you coming in to check out their previous work? I havent an exact design worked out, just a few ideas and also I know what I don't want so that should help narrow down! But I will need to have a look around before deciding :) Congrats Looby_Loo i'm glad you're happy with it!

Hopefully I'l have some pictures to show you all soon. Its funny I always said I would never get a tattoo as Im a real wuss with pain, but once I get an idea in my head I just go for it, not even stopping to think about the pain now lol! I;ve heard the foot is the worst but hey, I may as well get what I want it will be there for long enough! :D

John in Inkwell! I can't recommend the guy enough, especially for custom work :D

If you're going nu school, I'd check out Darren in Colourworks too. He's a really impressive colour portfolio.

Hooray for someone knowing what they actually want and not just asking "What should I get/who is best at tattoos?" :D

    Denise in Snakebite
    Darren in Colourworks
    John in Inkwell
    Jani in Celestial Ring/Wildcat

I've seen fantastic colour work by all of these, and they're top notch! :)

I've just had a look through John from Inkwell's online portfolio, he has a really nice style! Jani from Wildcat too. I cant seem to find a website for Colourworks or Zulu though? will pop in next time i'm in town.
    thanks again for your input!

    Hi folks me again!:)

After finding out about the meaning behind/attached to Koi fish, I really want one! I'd like something like this picture: http://koifishtattoo.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/pic-7.jpg

I'm not sure how it would look on my foot though?

Would I be better off putting it somewhere else?

I'm so glad I didnt go in on a whim and just pick something, I keep changing my mind!

I suspect this tatt will be the first of many :D

edit to add: I really want a Koi tattoo that is, not an actual Koi fish... in case you were wondering!

I've seen nice Koi fishes in the portfolios of an artist in stigmata-tau (in swords)

Can't remember which one, and can't find any pic on their website, but if you don't mind taking a trip to swords, it might be worth it.

However, the usual design might be a bit too big for a footpiece, you'll probably need to discuss this with the artist.

Well, I have been inked by Jani, and he's fantastic at bright colours. I had both my feet tattooed by Mark in wildcat too. Lovely lovely guy. Did an amazo job on those bad boys!

I haven't had any work done anywhere else, but I am thinking of heading to colourworks for a lily tat pretty soon. (Thanks William!) :D

    hijacking a thread, sorry!

I want a tattoo of words on my wrists, black script writing. Where in dublin would be the best for that type of work? I've been to snakebite before, really liked it there, Anywhere else though?

  • Registered Users Posts: 30,123 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

That's a simple tattoo that any of the commonly recommended places could do.

Just bear in mind it'll have to be up a bit from your wrist, and fine script writing would be prone to blurring, particularly near the wrist.

I'd say just go back to the artist you liked from before.
