How is importation tax calculated on electronic goods being imported into the country.

Also has anybody used the website alibaba.com to source suppliers?

Hi, If you are importing the goods from outside the EU, you will be liable to pay Vat on them when they enter Ireland and possibly duty, depending on the products and country you are importing from.
If you import goods from within the EU and are Vat registered in Ireland, you can import them without having to pay Vat. You would "self account for the Vat" in your vat return.
The Irish revenue have a few good guides on Vat which are worth looking at. www.revenue.ie

    Good luck
