Now that the misleading thread title is out of the way are any of the A&A posters planning on attending the upcoming Boards Beers on the 28th?

I don't drink beer or any alcohol but I'd still go if it was in Limerick which means I won't go because its on in Dublin.

Same here, if it was in Cork I'd definitely go, but Dublin is awkward for me.

Indeed. Cardinal Dawkins has decreed that atheists may only attend boards beers held in Dublin. The holy one speaketh.

Cardinal? that's blasphemy. Address him by his proper title, Mega-Pope.

(btw, I'm in Ennis which is very far away from Dublin (at least two weeks by donkey, or a month by CIE)

I wasn't aware there were so many countryside atheists! I thought it was a Dublin thing.

For many atheists beer can be substituted for God.

    10. No one will kill you for not drinking beer.
    9. Beer doesn’t tell you how to have sex.
    8. Beer has never caused a major war.
    7. They don’t force beer on minors who can’t think for themselves.
    6. When you have beer you don’t knock on people’s doors trying to give it away.
    5. Nobody’s ever been burned at the stake, hanged, or tortured to death over his brand of beer.
    4. You don’t have to wait 2,000 years for a second beer.
    3. There are laws saying that beer labels can’t lie to you.
    2. You can prove you have a beer.
    1. If you have devoted your life to beer, there are groups to help you stop.

Nope, Sligonian here. Still, will try to head along. (Moving to Maynooth on Friday.)

    Where're they on?

    Fear not fellow atheists.
I shall hold the side up by attending the festivities.
I shall not be drinking beer.
I will however be drinking wine and later in the evening a vodka or two...

    Mad Hatter,
if you are moving to Maynooth on friday then you have no excuse.
Hop on the 67a and wander in.
Details are in the Events Forum under the System menu.

No. I've recked too many heads here. Would be afraid to see them with a few beers.

Don't be silly. That's left at the door and not brought into RL.

*Cracks knuckles* Time to Wicknight this post!

No, but you might deserve to if you drink Bud.

    4. You don’t have to wait 2,000 years for a second beer.

You clearly have not tried to order a beer in a Dublin night club at around 12 o clock. Whole new laws of time had to be invented to describe how long it takes to get served!

    :)

Sadly I can't go, I'm moving house this weekend, was going to be my first beers but sure I'll hang on in there for the next one.

I don't think they let Galwegians past the border of the Pale, so I shan't be in attendance. I hear they're great fun though.

    Hi Dave

Atheism is not a Religion. It is the choice of a person(s) to abstain from World Religions. It was the case then the same rule would apply to Alcohol and Drugs. People choose to take them or not, that is their choice. Just thought I would make that point. Do you consider Atheism a Religion?

    Are you messing?

    I was being ironicalisticated, DenMan

    No I don't consider it a religion

Have you ever tried abstaining with friends around?
    9. Beer doesn’t tell you how to have sex.

    No, but how not to...
    8. Beer has never caused a major war.

No, but it's finished one or two...

    7. They don’t force beer on minors who can’t think for themselves.

    Who?
    6. When you have beer you don’t knock on people’s doors trying to give it away.

    No! It's mine!

    5. Nobody’s ever been burned at the stake, hanged, or tortured to death over his brand of beer.

    <see SDooM's response>
    4. You don’t have to wait 2,000 years for a second beer.

    ibid
    3. There are laws saying that beer labels can’t lie to you.

If only the same could be said for their advertising...'King of Beers'? 'Probably the best lager in the world'?
    2. You can prove you have a beer.

    I can prove I had a beer...
    1. If you have devoted your life to beer, there are groups to help you stop.

Er...SDooM, I'll let you take this one.

Anyhow, I'll do my best to make it along, assuming I haven't alienated you all now.

Having been to the BGRH beers last w/e I would risking divorce if I went. However, the prospect of meeting Beruthiel may well be worth it......

Debating whether we drink wine or blood? Are you the Martin Luther of the atheist community?

:p Well, I did recently chastise Dades for selling atheist-indulgences......

I thought the thread title was serious. I was hoping the OP was going to be to the A&A Board what Moosejam is to the Christianity Board. Ah well. :(
