This man isn't the face of Pro Wrestling in America, he IS pro wrestling in America. The man who is synonymous with modern day pro wrestling, few people (if any) have had the impact on the industry that he has had.

    VINCE MC MAHON

    188929773.jpg

Very few people in wrestling can generate the kind of heel heat that Mc Mahon can. He was one half of one of the greatest feuds in WWE history with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Granted, he's hardly a great wrestler, but that doesn't really matter since millions of people around the world tune in to see him get his ass kicked when he gets into the ring.

"Through Hellfire and Brimstone, here comes Kane!"

    24.jpg

'A decade of destruction' was once a phrase used to describe The Undertaker but it could now just as easily be used for the younger brother of The Deadman, the tormented soul that is Kane!

Kane in my opinion is one of the most interesting characters in WWE history and his feud with his 'brother' The Undertaker was one of the more interesting storylines of the WWE's Attitude era. Kane has been a loyal servant to the WWE and is one of the most athletic 'big man' wrestlers the company has ever had. He also has a great presence about him and can connect with the audience (and did it for many years through a mask).

You have to feel somewhat sorry for younger wrestling fans who aren't old enough to recall the Kane of years gone by. To me, Kane's prime was in the years up until about late 2000 when he wore his mask and when he was famous for decimating people in ruthless fashion. Take a look at this video from 2000 showing the massive pop Kane got when he returned on Raw to destroy DX and the Radicalz (about 4 minutes in):

And here's one of my favourite moments that I remember well from my younger days when Kane made that cheating Jezebel Tori pay for going off with X-pac!

Kane has also had several accomplishments over the years.

    Notable achievements:

    - WWE Champion
    - ECW champion
    - 2 time Intercontinental champion
    - Hardcore champion
    - WCW tag team champion
    - 9 time WWE tag team champion

Yes The Big Red Machine in his prime was definitely the man and will prove a very welcome addition to my roster.

" Dvon ! Get The Tables ! " Thats Right my next pick is one of the greatest Tag teams in the history of sports entertainment !

    dudleys_2000handout.jpg

A fusion of Hardcore Action and well crafted double team moves , The Dudley Boyz will be a perfect addition to my Brand. The Dudley'z popularized the use of tables in the mainstream of wrestling. Man or Woman it doesnt matter ! . They will be an excellent Heel tag , generating excellent heat. Psychotic at times ! Entertaining Always ! .

    Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner
    28.jpg
Scott Steiner offers so much to a roster. For one, he has the most impressive physique of any wrestler I have ever seen. Secondly, he has an impressive amateur background and in his prime was great in the ring.As a pioneer of top rope moves as well as a great mat wrestler he effectively introduced the Hurricanrana to the mainstream public in the guise of the Frankensteiner (Wrestling Observer best move winner in 1989 and 1990) which has now become everpresent . He is also one of the best natural heels around considering that he seems like an absolute Dick. This promo on Ric Flair is one of my favourite and shows, that although not gifted with gab, he cuts great natural promos when passionate

He is a former WCW Heavyweight, Unites States and Television champion, effectively a WCW triple Crown

The Dog Faced Gremlin Rick Steiner
Similarly to his brother, Rick Steiner had an impressive(albeit less succesful than his brother's) amateur wrestling career making him a natural at mat wrestling. As a singles wreslter Rick Steiner had a year long feud with the likes of Benoit Sting and Booker T for the WCW Television title although he never actually won it. He is a former WCW United States Champion as well.

    The Steiner Brothers
    th_SteinerBrothersVideo.jpg
As a tag team they were dominant from the outset, winning the NWA United States Tag Team championship less than a year after their debut. They held these belts (renamed the WCW United States tag belts), the WCW Tag championships and the IGWP Tag Championships at the same time. They are the only team in history to hold the WCW, IGWP and WWF tag team championships and are 10 time tag champions (Rick has 12 due to his runs with Eddie Gilbert and Kenny Kaos)

A man whom many people believe is one of the greatest performers never to hold the WWE title...

    Ravishing Rick Rude

    10.jpg

I've picked Rick Rude, because every great roster needs a versatile, credible, charismatic main event heel. Not only that, but the man was a complete workhorse, capable of dragging fine main events out of brutes like the Ultimate Warrior. He would be the guy you could count on to balance the spectacle with great wrestling, and also bring the two together.

    Title History

Tennessee version of the Southern Heavyweight title
Tennessee version of the Southern tag team titles w/King Kong Bundy
    Southern Heavyweight title
NWA Florida United States tag team titles w/Jesse Barr
    NWA American Heavyweight title
    WCCW World Heavyweight champion
World Class Championship Wrestling Television title
NWA World tag team titles w/Manny Fernandez
    WWF Intercontinental title
    WCW United States Heavyweight title
    WCW International Heavyweight title

My next pick is an unusual Tag Team that many may not even remember existed for a short period of time in 2004.

    rhyno.jpg & tajiri.jpg

The Japanese Buzzsaw and the War Machine teamed in 2004 even chasing tag team gold. One is a former ECW Champion while the other is renowned for his hard hitting style and both will bring a unique blend of extreme to my roster.

    Rd1: Hulk Hogan
    Rd2: John Cena

So far I have two big name, all American main-eventers who play mostly Faces although they can also play heels. So to accompany them and complete my main-event picture (most likely) is a non-American Heel who could believably hold his own in the ring with Hogan and Cena, a former 2 time WWF Champion & 2 time WWF tag champ….

    Dia Dhuit a chairde,

I've only had a couple of minutes to look over the thread so I hope I haven't gone wrong but I'm shocked that my pick wasn't chosen yet.

I’m very happy to announce my third pick, one of the true legends in wrestling. Having secured with my first 2 picks the best tag team in the Bulldogs, the best big man wrestler in Vader and arguably in his prime the best pure wrestler of all time in Dynamite Kid I am going to go in a slightly different direction.

Introducing the former AWA champion, Jerry the King Lawler:

    35.jpg

For younger wrestling fans, he may be seen as the color guy on Raw. He was much more than that. At his peak, very few people could create the drama that he could in his feuds through his ring work and his work on the mic and it’s notable that he won feud of the year 3 times in the Wrestling Observer awards.

He wasn’t Bret Hart in the ring in terms of teqhnique. However if you watch him at his peak, he had phenomenal timing in that even the most basic thing he did could elicit passionate reactions.

An overlooked legend who could play face or heel.

Here’s some results from the Observer awards:
    · Wrestling Observer Newsletter awards
Feud of the Year (1987) vs. Austin Idol and Tommy Rich
Feud of the Year (1992) with Jeff Jarrett vs. The Moondogs
Feud of the Year (1993) vs. Bret Hart
Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame (Class of 1996)[115]

    A collection of great promos:

Must see, the infamous Kaufmann and Lawer incident on Letterman:

    Classic match with Nick Bockwinkel:

Apologies if none of these links work.

one of my favourite tag teams since the hardyz. they were always entertaining to watch when they were on SD(pity about the move to Raw and then the break up)

As I am first in the 4th round and as I may not be online again until after lunch tomorrow, I will do my pick now. I had 3 in mind, and was fussing for the last few minutes over which I would choose. then a thought popped into my head - no one has picked Harley Race yet. A man who has fought all the great, a multiple champion, a legitimate tough guy, an ambassador for the sport and the REAL KING OF WRESTLING.

So, my 4th draftee is Harley Race, if that was not obvious already :)

Ok, so I promised in the discussion thread that my next pick would be money!

Well baby, just like Fed-Ex, I deliver! Please give a warm Boards welcome to my next draft pick...

    ...$hane McMahon!

He is one hell of a business man (and with a name like McMahon, how can't he be?) and when the time comes, he can kick some serious ass. Shane has been in some of the more memorable WWE angles (WCW/ECW inVasion, Corporation and his father's crusade against DX '06) he had a great feud with Kane and is hopefully the successor to the WWE throne. He is currently the Executive President of WWE Global Media (overseeing international TV distribution, live event bookings, digital media, consumer products, and publishing). The boy wonder has held the WWF Hardcore championship and WWF European championship and holds the distinction of being PWIs Rookie of the Year (1999), but refused to accept the award saying "These are for the boys, not me." Humble, fearless and a McMahon, who better to add to my roster?

    Here is tribute to Shane:

My next pick may surprise some but I feel I should pick them now while I have the chance.

    My pick is:

Trish Stratus ! Thats Right the women named Diva of the Decade will make a welcomed addition to my brand. Feuds with Jericho and The Dudley Boyz have been very successful in the past. She is an excellent manager . Trish cuts Solid Promo's, Heel or Face she can switch between with ease . Plus she is phenomenal in the ring if not the best ever in the WWE past present or future !

My forth pick, I went for another tag team, Demolition. Having won the WWF tag team titles in the late ‘80’s and early ‘90’s and feuding with some of the greatest tag teams, I believe they are a great addition to my roster.

WWF Wrestlemania V - Demolition vs. The Powers Of Pain

    Notable Feuds:

    The British Bulldogs
    Strike Force
    Powers of Pain

    The loose cannon, BRIAN PILLMAN!

    WWE-Brian-Pillman-Loose-Cannon.jpg

One of the most memorable wrestlers in recent history (unfortunately for the wrong reasons) Pillman was also one of the greatest charecters in recent wrestling memory. The first ever WCW light Heavyweight Champion, and a competitor in the first ever edition of WCW Nitro (where he beat Thunder Liger), and just a crazy sonuvabitch in general, if it weren't for his unfortunate demise he would have been a superstar without a doubt in my mind.

Couldn't find a youtube that wasn't a death tribute, and decided not to post one cos it's not the right place for that kind of thing here.

    Achievements:

    * Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling | World Championship Wrestling

    * NWA United States Tag Team Championship (1 time) - with Tom Zenk
    * WCW Light Heavyweight Championship (2 times) (First)
    * WCW World Tag Team Championship (1 time) - with "Stunning" Steve Austin

    * Stampede Wrestling

    * Stampede International Tag Team Championship (2 times) - with Bruce Hart
    * Stampede Wrestling Hall of Fame [1]

    * Wrestling Observer Newsletter awards

    * Rookie of the Year (1987)
    * Tag Team of the Year (1993) with Steve Austin as the The Hollywood Blonds
    * Most Underrated (1994)

One of the most charasmatic sports entertainers ever. He was WWE Attitude before the Attitude era. He took part in one of the greatest Wrestlemania matches ever. He was one of the biggest names in the Monday Night Wars. In my opinion he is the biggest main event star to never be World Champion.

He is a 4 time Intercontinental Champion, a 8 time Tag Team Champion, a 2 two time United States Champion and a television champion.

The man of the moment and frankly I'm amazed he's still around (I had to double-check). Yes folks my fourth round pick is going to be the 'straight-edged superstar' himself and current World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk!

CM Punk has risen through the ranks of the WWE following his tremendous ovation at the Hammerstein Ballroom for his ECW debut in 2006. He's gone on to become the ECW Champion, 'Mr Money in the Bank' and recently become the World Champion. What I like about Punk is that he has that ability to connect with the audience. He has tons of charisma and people of all ages seem to like the guy whether they're men, women or children.

I feel his in-ring ability has been improving bit by bit although I still feel he needs one stand-out match to really put himself on the map. Considering I've Bret Hart on my roster, he might be just the guy I need! I also like the idea of having Roddy Piper and CM Punk on the same show. Straight-Edge meets...well, the guy who's done it all.

    Notable achievements:

    - Current World Heavyweight Champion
    - ECW Champion
    - Money in the Bank winner
    - ROH Champion

I think CM Punk would be a cool addition to any roster. There's a lot that can be done with him and the WWE have really only begun to scratch the surface with the dude. I expect him to be a mainstay of that company for years to come so I feel I need him in my company too.

Even through the darkest days, this fire burns always!

    Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda/IRS

I won't lie, it's mainly Barry Windham who I want here. But Rotunda is a welcome addition to my roster too. As The US Express they held the WWF Tag Team titles twice

Windham in his prime was one of the very best in the world. But he didn't seem to be able to stay in his prime for a good length of time. Numerous promotion switches didn't seem to help him to keep his momentum and he was often put back in the midcard instead of the main event where he definitely belonged on his day

Rotunda was never truly a main-eventer, but he was a solid midcard guy who could always be relied on. He was usually seen as a tag team wrestler. Rotunda was a guy who knew the basics so well and because of that he could go out and have a good match with any opponent

Windham and Rotunda are both now agents for WWE, along with guys like Arn Anderson, Finlay, Malenko, Steamboat and Dusty Rhodes. That goes to show you the respect in which their ability is still held

    Some notable accomplishments:

    Together:
Two time WWF Tag Team champions
Three time NWA Florida US Tag Team champions

    Windham:
Match of the year in 1986 (vs Flair) as voted by Wrestling Observer readers, and also 1980 Rookie of the year
    NWA World Heavyweight Champion
    NWA US champion
    WCW TV champion
WCW Tag Team champion (three times with three different partners)
Six time NWA Florida Heavyweight champion

    Rotunda:
Three time WWF Tag Team champion with Ted DiBiase
    NWA TV champion
Three time NWA Florida Heavyweight champion
All Japan World's Strongest Tag Team League winner with Steve Williams

I was going to post this video for Arn Anderson, but Windham was in it too. Now I can post it with both of them on my roster! Great promo video, I love it:

And here's what Rotunda was up to in the cartoon world of the WWF around the same time:

    My 4th pick is ...........

    THE NARCISSIST LEX LUGER

Equally adept at playing heel or face i've gone for a guy who can play his part in any main event. He's immensely strong and can knock people out with his bionic elbow (what a weapon). I believe he'll be a great addition to my roster with some great feuds with Michaels & Nash in the pipeline.

His accomplishments include two time WCW heavyweight champion and Royal Rumble winner

With a Roster where every member so far is a multi time world champion in one form or another, its best to keep things like that for a now. But who?

So far theres the people champ the great one, the rated r superstar and captain charisma. But to match them I need someone who's not just the execution of excellence, some who is more than just that damn good.

    I need someone PHENOMENAL

Here's a vid of him vs Hurricane on wwf metal

With AJ I get a high flyer for the upper midcard/main event scene who puts on exciting matches and is also decent on the mic

    Bob Backlund

    40540603zr4.png

So, I couldn't help but notice the gigantic wrestling-shaped hole in my roster. In order to plug this hole, I've drafted in the master of the chickenwing crossface, Mr. Bob Backlund. Backlund was an extremely popular figure in his day, and was the face of the WWF for 5 long years. He came from an era when wrestlers were wrestlers, and competed in many memorable bouts, including a cage match with Snuka that became an instant classic. Showbiz he ain't, but great he certainly was.

A true “Superstar” to add to my roster. The success created by his originality, charisma, and ability to "work" a crowd, the persona, image, and mannerisms of "Superstar" Billy Graham have been "borrowed" by many wrestlers, in many eras, such "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner and Hulk Hogan.

This pick is made on behalf of b.ie curious who is away for a few days and his fifth round pick is...Diamond Dallas Page!

    25.jpg

b.ie curious also gave the reasons behind his pick...
The original 'people's champ' turned crazed stalker turned self help guru, its not a bad pick... its a good pick! Perhaps one of the most remarkable careers in wrestling, Page is a true Renaissance Man of the business. A former manager, commentator and World Champ, he's done it all.

"This was one of the top 5 teams….EVER!" - Jim Ross

    13.jpg

I feel it's now time I chose my first tag team and while a lot of top teams have already been taken, one legendary tag team remains available and that team is...The Rock ‘n' Roll Express!

The Rock 'n' Roll Express, the two-time NWA World Tag Team Champions made up of Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson, would have to be regarded as one of the greatest tag teams of all time. The team of two young guys who liked to rock out and do high-flying moves were hugely popular in their prime and in his book, Shawn Michaels states the Midnight Rockers, comprising him and Jannetty, were an effort to capitalise on the popularity of the R 'n R express. It was Morton and Gibson who took Michaels under their wing in Mid-South and taught him a lot about wrestling.

The R 'n' R Express' feud with the Midnight Express (managed by Jim Cornette) in Mid-South and NWA was legendary, and they also had top feuds with Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson, Ivan and Nikita Koloff, as well as the Midnight Rockers.

Their tag team wrestling skills were top-notch and in wrestling slang, whenever a babyface in a tag match is being beaten on before he makes the hot tag, he is said to be "playing Ricky Morton" due to Morton perfecting this aspect of tag team action to an art form. Morton also had a good singles career, moreso than Gibson, and even feuded with Flair for the NWA Title with Flair commenting in his book:

"Robert Gibson, the dark-haired member of the Express, was a good wrestler and played well on the team, but his blond-haired partner, Morton, was the heart of the unit. Ricky was a fabulous performer, and probably could have been one of the top singles wrestlers in the business, but - unlike Shawn Michaels, who became a World Wrestling Federation champion after parting ways with his tag-team partner, Marty Jannetty - Ricky never broke up with Robert."

High praise indeed but it's as a tag team that I want the duo for my roster. The pair went on to have stints in WCW and WWE but were never given backing in either company (in truth they were getting on at this stage).

However at their peak they could talk the talk as this video shows:

And they could walk the walk as this video shows:

The Rock 'n' Roll Express will make a great addition to my roster and I'll leave the last words to Jim Ross who said this of the duo's legendary battles with the Midnight Express:

"[They] were awesome in their day and would be printing money if they were in their prime today. Any young tag team or wannabe tag team that doesn’t study these two teams closely doesn’t really want to be successful. Their classic battles are like text books on how to be the best tag-team wrestlers."

Can't put it any better than that!

My 5th round pick - Dean Malenko & Perry Saturn!

    deanmalenkogw9.jpg

Dean Malenko wasn't just a part of the cruiserweight division ow WCW, he was the cruiserweight division! A four time cruiserweight champion, he made the division his own with his his outstanding in-ring ability and smooth technical style. The complete anti-thesis to the usual high-flying cruiserweight, Malenko fought his way through the division using pure wrestling talent. The man of 1,000 holds (only 4 short of Jerichos record :pac:)

    perry.jpg

I've got to be honest, I was never that big of a Saturn fan. I was picking Malenko and remembered they teamed together so figured he could come in useful somehow. He was a good worker and had some good matches, but I missed him in his prime since I couldn't watch WCW. That said, from what little I've seen he was a pretty good mid-card level guy, and I don't think having him on the books can be a bad thing at all.

    Achievements:

    Malenko:
    * Extreme Championship Wrestling[6]
    o ECW Television Championship (2 times)[10]
o ECW Tag Team Championship (1 time)[11] - with Chris Benoit

    * Pro Wrestling Illustrated

    * Wrestling Observer Newsletter awards
o Feud of the Year (1995) vs. Eddie Guerrero
    o Best Technical Wrestler (1996, 1997)

    * Other Titles
o ICWA Junior Heavyweight Championship (1 time)
o SPW Southern Championship (1 time)

    Saturn:
    * Extreme Championship Wrestling
o ECW World Tag Team Championship (3 times) - with John Kronus [1]

    * International Wrestling Federation
o IWF Light Heavyweight Championship (2 times)[citation needed]
    * United States Wrestling Association

My next pick is in IMO one of the best big guys in the business.

Not only did he beat his opponents but he set about to destroy them!

Sadly he is no longer with us but his memorable feuds will always be known for their hard hitting, brutal style. He is "The Gladiator" Mike Awesome.

    MikeAwesome.jpg

A former ECW champion, Mike Awesome displayed great athleticism for his size and combined it with brutal power in order to beat his opponents (just ask Tanaka!). I think he will make a great addition to my roster as an upper mid carder who can deliver great matches when needs be.

Obviously MNG didn't get my last cheque since I'm only making my 5th round pick now, but it doesn't matter cos this pick is simply priceless...

So my fifth choice is the team of Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase (Jr.)

Apologies for not picking a better video.

My fifth Pick, a man who if his career was able to have reached it's full potential, would surely be remembered not just as a a great, but one of the best... My 5th Pick.

    MR WONDERFUL... Paul Orndorff

    4903356

yes, Orndorff, the guy who helped hulk hogan to the hottest feud of 1986, at one point drawing an estimated 70,000 plus fans (in Toronto I think). But also the guy who was a headliner on the very first Wrestlemania, a and who's feud with Hogan in general lead to huge, record-breaking profit levels for Vinnie Mac.
Orndorff was adept at playing both the Heel and Face. Intresesting and athletic enough as a good guy, and aggressive and manipulative as a baddie. Orndorff could handle a mic with dignity intact, and remains on of the most noteworthy characters from the late 80's, and early 90's.

    Plus, he kicked Vader's ass!

My 5th round pick is a man who was one of the top wrestlers in the 70's. He is Pedro Morales

Pedro was a hugely popular face in wrestling in the 70's (just as popular as Bruno Sammartino). He held the World Heavyweight title for 3 years. He's a true main event star who will be a valuable addition to my roster

    A legit fighter.

A ball of intensity in the ring or cage.
A skilled technician on the mat.
With lightening fast strike speed or devastating submission holds I can just imagine some of the matches he could have, and in some cases had, with the rest of my roster.

For my next pick, I shall choose...

My second (and final :( ) tag team...

Earthquake and Typhoon, The Natural Disasters.

    05.jpg

Two huge men who could do quite a bit for their size. They were monsterous mountains of men who both had decent singles runs (however silly 'Tugboat' may have been) and had a good tag run together, too.

I believe that these guys, if they were in the same shape in 2008, could, and likely would, be unstoppable monsters.

And after all.. i do have taker on my roster :pac:

I've gone for large wrestlers so far, so it's time to mix things up a little. My pick is:

    Jushin "Thunder" Liger

This is a guy who was a true innovator in wrestling. When he came to America in the early '90s he brought a style of wrestling that had ever been seen before by the WCW fans. He is recognised as one of the very top cruiserweight/junior heavyweight wrestlers in the world

One of the great things about him is that he was constantly evolving and learning new things. He's in his forties now so he can't do as much high-flying stuff as he used to, but he's made up for that in other areas, improving his ground wrestling and making the younger guys look better

Both TNA and ROH brought him in for matches in which he was promoted as a legend and an idol for their younger wrestlers

    Some notable accomplishments:

Voted by Wrestling Observer readers as the best flying wrestler five years in a row, the best technical wrestler four years in a row, most outstanding wrestler three years in a row, as well as a match of the year and joint rookie of the year winner
    WCW Lightheavyweight champion
Numerous title reigns in New Japan, holding every title available to junior heavyweights and winning singles and tag tournaments
    NOAH Junior Heavyweight champion
    Dragon Gate champion
    Super J Cup winner
